I just got a job there but my boyfriend told me not to take it. I don't see what the big deal is. It's not a strip club or even a sleaze place plus one of my friends works there and she says the tips are great. What's wrong with that?

Dear Mr. Alcohol,

First and foremost, let me tell you that I'm a huge fan of yours. My friend, you always seem to be there when needed. The perfect post-work cocktail, a beer at the game, and you're even around in the holiday's hidden inside chocolates as you warm us when we're stuck in the midst of endless family gatherings. However, lately I've been wondering about your intentions. While I want to believe that you have my best interests at heart, I feel that your influence has led to some unwise consequences:

1. Phone calls: While I agree with you that communication is important, I question the suggestion that any conversation of substance or necessity takes place after 2 a.m. Why would you make me call those ex-boyfriends/girlfriends when I know for a fact they do not want to hear from me during the day, let alone all hours of the night?

2. Eating: Now, you know I love a good meal, but why do you suggest that I eat a taco with chili sauce, along with a big Italian meatball and some stale chips (washed down with WINE & topped off with a Kit Kat after a few cheese curls & chili cheese fries)? I'm an eclectic eater, but I think you went too far this time.

3. Clumsiness: Unless you're subtly trying to tell me that I need to do more yoga to improve my balance, I see NO need to hammer the issue home by causing me to fall down. It's completely unnecessary, and the black & blue marks that appear on my body mysteriously the next day are beyond me. Similarly, it should never take me more than 45 seconds to get the front door key into the lock.

4. Furthermore: The hangovers have GOT to stop. This is getting ridiculous. I know a little penance for our previous evening's debauchery may be in order, but the 3pm hangover mobility is completely unacceptable. My entire day is shot. I ask that, if the proper precautions are taken (water, vitamin B, bread products, aspirin) prior to going to sleep/passing out face down on the kitchen floor with a bag of popcorn, the hangover should be minimal & in no way interfere with my daily activities.

Alcohol, I have enjoyed our friendship for some years now & would like to ensure that we remain on good terms. You've been the invoker of great stories, the provocation for much laughter, and the needed companion when I just don't know what to do with the extra money in my pockets. In order to continue this friendship, I ask that you carefully review my grievances above & address them immediately. I will look for an answer no later than Thursday 3pm (pre-happy hour) on your possible solutions & hopefully we can continue this fruitful partnership.

My mom gave me a neche (spelling?) sewing machine that she doesn't need anymore, probably about 7 years old. She said it needs to be oiled-- what on earth does that mean? I have NOOO clue how to sew, but I see all these adorable patterns at Joann's and Wal Mart. How can I learn to sew clothes for myself!? DO I need to measure myself? I've sewn maybe twice in my life, both baby blankets where all I did was hem the edges and they were horribly crooked lines lol. Where on earth do I start? I want to someday make clothes for my kids and grandkids too!!! I'd ask my mom but she doesn't go beyond pillows and curtains.... thanks all!

I'm a SAHM with my toddler son, and was thinking about doing some in-home childcare. My mom did that when I was younger, and the girl she watched was a month younger than my sister. They were both infants at the time, and now at 14, almost 15, they're still friends even though they go to different schools.

I was wondering what, if any, laws there are about that. I know there are all sorts of laws governing daycares, but what about having just 1 or 2 children at my home?

Theory has it, every 26 million years it causes mass extinctions on earth, like for instance, the killing of the dinosaurs. This star should easily be visible from earth. Where? I don't know. hes had diaheriha for three days on the 2nd day he got sick once at night then he was fine all day running and playing no fever again tonight he was asleep and woke up and got sick again why is this happening he has no snotty nose but could it be because when he lays down his sinuses are draing into his belly cause hes fine all day hell just throw up when he goes to sleep?why?

We are hoping to adopt very soon. They are not super young, one is 5 months and the other one looks younger, but I think he looks older than 8 weeks. We have all our supplies already (litter box, scratching post, etc). We are not letting them upstairs since my husband has slight allergies and the #1 rule is to keep them out of the bedroom. We already know the secrets to controlling the allergy part, now we need the secrets to controlling the kittens! At least, as much as it is possible to control them! FYI Downstairs is the living/dining area, kitchen, and a half bath.

Which one of these do better in ponds? Not interested in Koi. Theyre fascinating and probably more beutiful and hardy than any of these but i dont have the space in my yard to keep koi. These below are the only ones im able to purchase or "save".

We tied the knot only after a few months of knowing one another. I come from a different country. When we were dating he made several trips to my across the continents to meet me & my family.

Shortly after we married, I moved to be with him. However only a few weeks later, trouble started. He kept saying he made a mistake & wanted me to ‘get out of his house’ – over every little disagreement we had. This also resulted in him destroying my books & other personal belongings. I lived in fear all those months. When my parents visited us later in the year, he threw them out of our house too – without an apology. And still refuses to apologise even today.

Today we are separated. I am devastated & broken-hearted given the way things went as I always believed that a marriage should last a lifetime. He says he is disappointed & sad as well!! What gives? Any ideas on what might explain his behaviour? How did he expect things to be any different??
