I'd like to know whether successful applicants for US Navy, Army, Air Force Reserve) are required to undergo training in boot camp, or is that only for those aiming to serve as soldiers? 8 of us are about to submit our application forms as reservists but this thought is keeping us all at bay. Any ideas? Thanks!

It's a cleansing kit consisting of not only a colon cleanse, but also a liver, lymphatic, circulatory, and kidney cleanse... I have a guaranteed job at a movie rental place waiting for me, all I have to do is turn my application into the manager who I got in good with ... but that means I have to stop smoking marijuana (also I want to) but I also want a "farewell" smoke tonight lol ... so keeping in mind that I'm into fitness, I exercize regularly, will the body cleansing kit help?

We veggies are treated so mean...why? What is it about us that really triggers that nerve? Many times I have only said I'm a vegetarian...that's it and I get ulgy looks and people will actually get defensive....ie...Your crazy...So you don't want to eat anything huh. Why?(accompanied by an ugly look). What is it? I don't ask you why you eat meat...(I don't care to be honest) I don't give you dirty looks...I don't say you need to go eat a soy burger. I am not mean...unless you start it over my meal choices.

What it is it about us that triggers that nerve? I gotta know...please be nice too...and I would appreciate it if you guys keep the go eat a steak comments to a minimum....K. Thanks in advance.

BTW I'm not refering to the preachy veggies...the people that tell everyone in sight that meat is BAD...and go on and on about the creutly...especially when no one in the room cares. I'm talking about the regular ole vegetarans. What is it about us normal ones?

I bought a whole chicken to make for my husband when he gets home. I've never made a whole chicken before (it's usually his forte) and I want it to be moist, delicious and looking good too. Also, does this sound like a good menu for our dinner?
A whole baked chicken, grilled corn on the cob w/ butter and herbs, oven baked mac & cheese (he specifically requested this, so it has to stay), steamed broccoli and carrots with a made-totally-from-scratch banana creme pie (my forte, lol) with home made whipped cream.
He's coming home from a deployment and I really want to spoil him. Is there anything I should change or add? Also, don't forget the tips for cooking the bird!!

I am looking for a home to buy, and I put an offer in on one Sunday. I am renting a home, month to month, my lease expired a long time ago. However my landlord told me to just give him a 30 day notice if I plan on moving. But the thing is that I don't know when or if the bank will accept my home offer, and as soon as they do, it is my home and I will have to start making mortgage payments on it, and I will move in of course..but it could take them a week to 3 months I heard to approve my offer. this house is awful & it's not insulated at all and the pipes freeze in the winter, leaving us without water for days. my heat bill last winter was $400.00 a month for a 1,000 square foot house with no basement so I'd like to get out of here asap. especially b/c I have a 6 month old now. The landlord has a sec. deposit equal to a little over a mo. rent. should I just move out & he can take the sec. deposit as the rent? The house is in good condition. Can I get in any kind of trouble?

The fires are burning my house, WHY?
A few years ago, our neighbors took a petition around the neighborhood wanting to ban controlled burning around the hills. Their reasons were, to stop the smell of smoke, to reduce pollution and to stop the ashes from getting into the swimming pools and clogging the filters. Now, after a few years of uncontrolled undergrowth, the hills are all burning and darkening the sky with heavy smoke. The smell of burning cars and houses is terrible. The pool water was used to fill fire trucks with water after the houses burnt or was near burning.

Can we sue the ones who signed the petition to stop controlled burning that led to the destruction of our neighborhood? It seems like they are the ones liable for the destruction. Were a few ashes in the pool worth it

We have often heard the argument that privately funded research is suspect because the scientists who are employed by private firms have a profit motive, and that they are predisposed to give answers consistent with their bosses' goals. But isn't that also true of scientists who are funded by government grants? Are they not motivated by the grant money and predisposed to give answers consistent with the goals of the grantor?

Your thoughts?

(I am posting this in two categories: politics and science. I'm interested if the science community has a different general opinion from the more politically inclined.)
