We veggies are treated so mean...why? What is it about us that really triggers that nerve? Many times I have only said I'm a vegetarian...that's it and I get ulgy looks and people will actually get defensive....ie...Your crazy...So you don't want to eat anything huh. Why?(accompanied by an ugly look). What is it? I don't ask you why you eat meat...(I don't care to be honest) I don't give you dirty looks...I don't say you need to go eat a soy burger. I am not mean...unless you start it over my meal choices.

What it is it about us that triggers that nerve? I gotta know...please be nice too...and I would appreciate it if you guys keep the go eat a steak comments to a minimum....K. Thanks in advance.

BTW I'm not refering to the preachy veggies...the people that tell everyone in sight that meat is BAD...and go on and on about the creutly...especially when no one in the room cares. I'm talking about the regular ole vegetarans. What is it about us normal ones?

BTW...I'm a little on the chunky side..about 15 pounds too much...I'm not scrawny...My hygine is top notch...and I'm not a hippie...I wear holister and aeropostale and the like...preppy like without the attitude that goes with the clothes..LOL....Why does everyone assume I'm a tree hugging hippie? Yes, I'm veggie for the animals...I also realize that people make their own choices too...and no matter how much you preach if someone doesn't care..they don't care. So I only talk about it if they ask...and then I watch facial expressions to make sure they really want to hear it. Some are just being nice.

We don't hate all vegetarians, just the ones who try to force us to stop eating meat because they don't. You shouldn't be commenting on the "poor defenseless animal" because you don't know if it was defenseless or not. People raise vegetable to be eaten, not to just sit in the garden....same goes for animals. If nobody ever ate meat there would be a population explosion of animals who would also be eating your vegetables and then both animals and humans would suffer and die from starvation....would you like that? There is absolutely no problem with some people choosing to not eat meat but to try and make people feel bad for eating it is wrong because some people need it to be healthy...people with O blood type. Some of the most unhealthy people I've met over the years were vegetarians who didn't get enough protein. And just because they looked healthy on the outside doesn't mean they were healthy on the inside.

Well...mostly because it goes against human nature to not eat meat. Meat is naturally part of the human diet. But what used to get me when i was in high school was that a lot of the vegetarians were doing it as a fad (and now its the same with being vegan). People just wanted to do it to "stand out" in some way. And they would give the excuse that "animals are cute" or some other random thing. Most of the kids i went to school with were from a small city, and had probably never been within fifty feet of a cow or chicken, so I didn't think it was a valid response for them to say cows are cute (and I assure you, most cows are massive, stupid, and rather un-adorable). Also these kids that were vegetarian thought that being vegetarian just means not eating meat, and they would try to pass it off as more healthy than a normal diet. Being vegetarian can be very detrimental to your health if you don't replace the nutrients that meat would normally give you with some other product. But I totally respect vegetarians who have a good cause and are responsible with their health. I just don't understand how you could resist a nice filet mignon! :-)

I don't hate vegetarians that's just stupid but some people pick on others because they might be afraid of something different but sometimes i do see some of the vegetarians starting some things which isn't their faults as do some people who are not vegetarians. Some people make mistakes and take everything to heart but if you are going to share your opinion why get so seriously into it why not just scratch the surface of it, these are some of the mistakes. Some people are just plain mean it is your choice on what you do really.

Well, I don't have any issues with vegetarians. After all, it's a personal choice like many other things in life.

But it might be that the meat eating individual feels judged sometimes as evil. Or it may be that they harbor a guilt about eating meat (which I sometimes do). A lot of meat eaters feel like hypocrites. I mean we love our dogs and cats, but pass the burgers type-thing...

I also think that the "preachy veggies" might have stigmatized the rest of you unfortunately.

But, I don't know of anyone who is annoyed or bothered by vegetarians at all (not in my circle anyways).

Maybe if you live somewhere where they eat a lot of meat, like in the Southern U.S. I can see where it may be considered socially strange to them (but most things do to them...lol).

Anyways, don't sweat it. Many of us meat eaters support your personal choice not to eat meat. It's cool.

Take care :)

The only vegetarians that bother me are the ones like you said, that preach about the cruelty items, and the ones that seem to look down on everyone and everything that eats any type of meat. Like one person said before, I don't care who eats what, but I don't like being preached at or looked down upon because of what I eat either. Hope this helps shed some light on it for you. Good luck!

People are mean, and don't like it when other people don't have the same interests as they do. I mean, this is just an opinion, but think about it, why do people hate on homosexuals, non-christians, people who are of a different race, when they've done nothing to arouse contempt? B/c they aren't like that themselves. People don't like people who are different from themselves. You're not hurting anyone...I think the world would be a better place if people would just mind their own business.

If all you want to eat is fruit, vegetables, & nuts, that's your choice. It's the over zelous extreamists that shove the idea hambueger is murder down our throats that cause the friction. They can't respect that I prefer to remain the omnivore I was born as. I've always have & always will eat meat. I'll respect your choice if you'll respect mine.

I do not give people these looks the way I see it is more power to you that is your choice, but as for the population who does do that i think it is because they are so closed minded they think only their way is the "right way" and they are "afraid of the "unusual" do not worry about them!!!! You just do what makes you happy nomatter what anyone says!!!!!!!!!!!!

Basically the same reason most of us slam doors in the face of Jehovah's Witness or Mormon Missionaries.

Vegetarians often come across as thinking they are better than meat eaters and it really ticks us off. In addition, there are basic philosophical and lifestyle convictions that are diametrically opposed.

To be quite blunt, most meat-eaters see vegetarians scrawny, under-weight fanatics with bad breath and evangelical fervor.

I am not saying you are like that, but if you are a vegetarian, it is baggagewith which you will have to deal.
