After all, you're taking the word of men who claim to be divinely inspired. Aren't you basically entrusting the fate of your 'immortal soul' to other people?

Because how would you know that the writers and compilers of The Bible are divinely inspired IF THEY DIDN'T TELL SAY THEY WERE?

Im really wanting to get out of the armed services, my recruiter is telling me i can get out but i will never be able to join again. My family is telling me not to take his word for it and look into this. I have gone to the Houston MEPS and sworn in but like i said my recruiter said i can get out but never join again. What do i do? What do i believe. I have national citizenship in Chile, should i go there? Someone help!!!

I have to make a powerpoint on Hotel Bellevue. I have an Apple computer and I have no idea what I am doing on this computer so please help! I want to put a picture of the Hotel as a background on my first slide. First of all, my sister has to do it too. When she was putting up her background some how she clicked a button and made it look not stretched or blurry. How did she do that? And another question is How do I make it as a background in the first place? I tried to make it as a background but then it kept covering up all of the words. I can't find the button where it is supposed to say "Behind text". I also want to know how to make all of the sounds and make it all move (I told you I am completely clueless!) Like I have pictures and words so how do i make them zoom in or something and then put a sound to it? Alright. Thanks! And remember I have an Apple computer. Ok! How was that experience for you?

Im Muslim, and when I went to London, we visited a church there and it was an enlightening experience because they just happened to play the Muslim call of prayer as a way to symbolize the unity of both religions. On a Buddhist holiday, I was invited to visit their temple and perform their rituals...it was pretty amazing too. i also live in a mainly Jewish neighborhood and visited synongogues&learned alot about Judiasm growing up. I love learning about different religions/cultures ^_^

Ok, Its like this. We recently got married, and My wife is now prego. we live with her also. My mother inlaw (and family memebers) constently make remarks, and offend me right in front of her. Whats worse is they are good at menipulating her to get her to do what they want. I get no help from her mom even when it would be easy to do so, I have helped her mom so much. I pay her $$$ for her house. I mean I get it I am stealing the baby (shes 18 and I am 29) I am not here to just take her away, but do want to spend my time when I am not working with her, not alone. She wont stand up to her mom,and when she does she makes her feel like crap. It would be easy to get an apartment and leave, but I dont want to leave her behind, or my unborn child. (it kills me..) I am afrade everyday that where heading for a devorce. Most of the time there is so much tension, that it's unbearable. There has got to be a better way, we need to take control of our own lives. any advice?

Which species do you think Nero will be? Alot of speculations that Nero will be Romulan but it does not prove Nero could be Romulan. Many Star Terk fans found a movie with Eric Bana, which is "Romulus, My Father." In this Australian movie, there is no connection with Star Trek.

What will you think the outcome of this movie in next year? I think this would be the biggest movie of the year in 2008.

I have a 2005 Dodge Stratus 2.7 SXT 4 door. Over the past 2 months I have had an issue with the carpet under the passenger seat wet. It was sopping wet. I cleaned it up with a wet dry vac and got it all dry and two days later it was soaked again. I put a Absorber under the seat for 2 days and got it up. But it is still damp. Wet to touch the carpet and the metal under it. It is not soaked just damp now. I have the seat out of the car trying to see I something was draining but I have no idea what could be doing this. Any ideas what it is and how to fix it? I have a moldy smelling car and need to get it completely dry. Thanks in advance...

Atheists,
Reading over a lot of answers to your questions, I get the idea that you have this perception that people that believe in an afterlife do not really try to make the most out of this life.
Why is that?
The idea that the person that believes in the afterlife, does not take this life seriously is just not true at all.
The truth is, is that it is exactly the opposite, almost. (Because I can't speak for most of the Christians. Just myself and the ones that I know)
I have been a Christian many years, and in my experience I have found that believers in a higher power really find much meaning in life, because we believe that we all have a purpose. God has given us a purpose and if we follow Him, He will point us down the right path. Not only that, but we know that we have something to live FOR. And that makes life much more meaningful. We have direction in our lives. So the perception that we do not take this life so serious because of a supposed afterlife is not true.
