I don't understand people like you. You join the armed services and then when it becomes possible you might get ordered into a combat zone, you want out. Anyone with any common sense should realize that combat action is occuring or can occur at any time in any place in this world, and that by being a member of an armed force, you could be sent at any time to any place where combat action is occuring.

Some people might say that only Air Force pilots and flight crews see any combat action. As for enlisted Air Force personnel in Iraq, those who have been killed in action have been assigned to units such as Air Rescue, Para Jumpers, Combat Controllers, Security Forces (Air Police), Logistic Readiness Convoy Duty, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Air Force Special Investigations, Special Tactics, Civil Engineers, and Air Support Operations among others.

If you are scared of being assigned to a combat zone, then get out now before you jeopardize the lives of any other brave airmen and women.

Here is something else to consider. If World War 3 were to occur, I would bet that the country would reactivate the draft. If you end up getting drafted, then you would have to serve in any military branch they assign you to. Volunteering is better because you get to choose which military branch to serve with.

Also, it is possible to serve in an armed force and never be sent into combat. It usually depends on what service you choose and what job category you get assigned to. I had an uncle who served in the Navy during World War 2 and he was assigned to the Great Lakes Naval Training Center near Chicago, Illinois, USA during the entire war. I had a cousin who served with the Army in the USA and Europe during the Vietnam War. As for me, I served honorably in both the Navy and Army and volunteered for Vietnam duty.

Look dude either u want to join or you don't, If you want to get out of DEP just tell them u refuse to ship the will be no action taken against you because you are not in the USAF until you swear in the 2ND time. As far as WW3 goes come get real you spend way to much time listen to the quacks in here. Look I did 20yrs in the Navy so either you want to join and take advantage of what you can from the service or you don't sounds like you are not ready to take that step so I would suggest that you get out now and quit wasting a recruiters time either you are serious or not plain and simple. Bush is not going to start WW3 any more than say Hugo or that Quack over in Iran. Yea I say get your !@# back to Chile where you belong and then go mooch off that govt see ya!!!!!!!!!

i don't be attentive to in the event that they nonetheless have them yet i be attentive to interior the army they have/had courses like Seamen to Admiral. in fact how those worked is you're given a sequence volume of time to get your degree then i've got self belief you bypass to OTS. those courses are fairly puzzling to get into. you have have been given to be on the very precise in each and every factor you do. you have additionally bypass so management means. there is so plenty greater in touch with starting to be an officer then purely having a level. greater greater purely on the grounds which you're an officer does no longer propose you will get to be a pilot. i've got self belief much less then 2% of people actively serving interior the armed forces are pilots. Flying any air craft interior the armed forces is very puzzling. enable a lone flying a fighter jet those pilots are the cream of the crop. they're the superb of the superb.

Your recruiter is telling you the truth. I thank you for getting out now before your actions once you get in maty cause other Americans to die because you are not really as strong mentally as it reqires you to be in the miltary.
You actually joined the miltary for the wrong reasons, and it is best for you not to go. A true military member joins to serve the country and to keep it save from all enemies, foriegn and domestic. This means that you give of yourself and ask nothing back, with the knowledge that if and when in a conflict/war you could actually make the highest sacrifice to your country and give your life so that others may live. Appearently you didn't really understand this, and your reasons are flawed. Please follow the advise of your recruiter, and don't go in for the 2nd swearing in.

Our national TV media always has to inform us of one bad thing per day. I wouldn't pay attention to Bush. Go into the USAF, you may a good choice. Do your four year enlistment then get out. You will always hear the same types of stuff but just on a different day. Do not worry about it.

Sounds like you went in delayed enlistment. However if you took the oath, you were sworn in. That said, your recruiter may be right that they could let you back out, BUT that enlistment after that will not be an option. You could also consult with civilian attorneys who specialize in military law.

This talk about WWIII right now is hyperbole and fear mongering. However, regardless, anyone who enlists in the military is essentially saying that they're prepared to fight "in case there is a war" and are willing to live with that possibility. The primary job of any military IS fighting! And since the US is already at war in Iraq, if you're not willing to accept that risk, why on earth did you bother to sign up & take the oath in the first place?

Don't enlist. Tell the recruiter you've changed your mind. Return to Chile. Because you have completely lost sight of the reason to enlist: Pledging you will defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic and to follow the lawful orders of the President and the officers and non-commissioned officers appointed over you. You are not ready to make that commitment and I suspect you never will be.

Do me a favor and shoot yourself in the friggin face you coward. The threat is just a bunch of hollow words. You'd be in the god da mned Air Force for Christ sake! The AF sends it's OFFICERS to fight for the most part, not punk a s s whiny retards like you. The Army and the Marines are the ones that get up close and personal with the chances of getting killed. You are a shining example of why I'd rather have 10 dedicated soldiers rather then 1000 draftees. I hope you are not representative of your generation or else this country is doomed. Piss off ya coward!

Bush is talking about WW3? When did he do that?
Oh, so now you're wimping out because you might have to do what you signed up for? HEY BUBBA...THE USAF and any other branch IS NOT THE BOY SCOUTS!
BE A MAN FOR A CHANGE AND GET A BACK BONE!
Is this a pattern in your life? Things get a big iffy and you run away? I pity the poor woman you marry. You gonna run to CHILE then, too? Or is every man in your 'home country' like you? (waaaaaa where's my diaper?)

In this day of nuclear weapons and terrorism why do you think you will be safer in this country if WW V breaks out.
WW I Central Powers vs The Allies
WW II The Allies vs the Axis
WW III US/West vs The USSR (Cold War)
WW IV The West vs Islamo-fascism
You might be safer onthe front line with warning devices, and bio gear.

In any event I think you're a wienie for changing your mind now.
