I live in Chicago and there are currently two local taxing bodies who are proposing a host of new taxes, the city of chicago and cook county. Both governments are proposing massive tax increases. As a citizen, what recourse do I have? Can I conscientiously object and not pay without getting into trouble? Is there any system of oversight that would limit the amount of taxation? I mean what do we do when our local governments decide stuff like this. It seems like there is no choice but to complain and pay it.

I say it is and life is great in the USA for all its citizens like never before. We are so fortunate to have George Bush, jr in charge of things ...and he deserves all the credit for how great things are.

A man who worked for the fire department came home from work one day and told his wife, "You know, we have a wonderful system at the firehouse. Bell #1 rings, and we all put our jackets on. Bell #2 rings, and we all slide down the pole. Bell #3 rings, and we are on the truck and ready to go!"

"So," he continues, "From now on, we're going to run this house the same way. When I say Bell #1, I want you to strip naked. When I say Bell #2, I want you to jump into bed and when I say Bell #3, we're going to make love all night!"

The wife is agreeable with this arrangement.

The next night, he came home from work and yelled, "Bell #1!" The wife took off all her clothes. "Bell #2!".....The wife jumped into bed. "Bell #3!"..... They began passionate loving...

After two minutes, the wife yelled, "Bell #4!"..... The husband asked "What the hell is this Bell #4?" "MORE HOSE!" she replied, "YOU'RE NOWHERE NEAR THE FIRE!"

The house is in a neighborhood with gas lines, but I don't know how close the main gas line is. It's roughly 1,200 square foot. It also has a fireplace, which will help with the heating costs but we want to find out how much it would be to make the change from oil to gas, as oil can be so expensive.

On December 4, 2006, a pack of animals attacked Justine Barker, knocked him unconscious, and proceeded to stomp on his unconscious body in a clear attempt to kill him.

These animals were subsequently captured and, for some unknown reason, have turned over to the police, as opposed to animal control where they belong.

It is my understanding that when an animal attempts to kill, or even just harm a human, that animal is unceremoniously put down.

Why are these six animals receiving trials and not simply being put down like other animals???

Since, by receiving a trial, these animals are receiving far more then they deserve, where is the cause for controversy???

The only possible cause for controversy I can see stems from the question of why these animals are receiving trials in the first place and not simply being put down like any other animal that attacks a human.

They keep telling me I "make too much" but yet I still can't afford to finish. An illegal immigrant applies and gets a free full-ride....WTF is going on?? I was born and raised an American but the government won't help me out, they WILL help out someone here illegally. Is it me or is this completely backwards?

I have really bad ridges on both my thumb nails. There is a line going up the center of each thumb vertically with all these small lines and bumps horizontally. Does anyone know how I can fix them? Yes I do have the bad habit of picking the skin around my nails, which I have been trying to stop. They just look so ugly, I am very self conscious about them. If anyone knows how to get rid of them please help me.

Bush has taken the country for ride. a bad, bad ride. Why are there faithful blind republicans that won't just wake up?
Lou Dobbs is by far not a left winged hippy. And he has some straight forward hard talk on bush:

"Bush campaigned for the Republican Party's nomination eight years ago, styling himself as a compassionate conservative. He's amply demonstrated that he is neither. Although many conservatives refuse to accept the reality, George W. Bush is a one-world neo-liberal who drove budget and trade deficits to record heights while embracing faith-based economic policies that perversely require only blind allegiance to free markets and free trade, without regard for consequence."
