You want classes which will give you options for the next step, so take the most rigorous courses you can - math, science, language courses, etc.

well if you know what you want to do, it would be great to take classes like that. (interested in computers, take a lot of computer classes) If you are unsure of what you want to do, i suggest to take the most rigourous curriculem your school offers. Take AP classes! Colleges LOVE those! Take hard math classes, Calculus, Calc II, Statistics! Try not take take more than 1 elective a year. Colleges don't want to see 20 art classes, unless you are attending an art school. Do NOT slack off senior year! Take challenging courses senior year and colleges WILL notice! Try to take as many hard courses as you can without overloading yourself. If you do well in these courses, colleges WILL respond!

Good Luck!

High school classes are good formal or informal prerequisites for college classes. If you want a 4 year college degree (bachelor's) or higher (master's, doctorate), take foreign languages, as much math and science as you can, and if available, computer skills, speech, technical report writing, and anything that would go along with your major such as accounting, business management, introduction to law, introduction to medicine, etc.
