I give piles away to Goodwill. You can estimate what you paid for it and then claim a deduction if you want.

They are great for quilt blocks! If you don't know anyone who quilts, donate them to a local church or nursing home or, call your local YMCA/YWCA and ask if they know of a ladies group that could use scrap material. If you want, you can cut them into squares yourself or just donate the fabric. My mom used a postcard to make her squares. I know that a lot of new patterns call for smaller squares. If you want to learn to quilt, check out the above and ask if you can help cut squares and learn to quilt. (My mother did it by hand, not by machine.)
You can also make squares, or whatever shape and make a patchwork item with them. Either for your little one or a doll or even a person.

You could make a rag rug. Take strips of cloth and I think you sort of twist them and sew them together in a circle or oval. I've never done it so I'm not real sure how but something like that.

Donate it to your local children's center or senior center for arts and crafts. Or save your remants and when you have enough, make a quilt...or turn the quilt into a cover for your pooch's bed!
