i recently resigned from my job, i recieved my last payslip last week and they had paid all my holiday pay entitlment.
i left on good terms and they said i am eligible to be re hired by them in the future if i wanted to apply.
if i did go back, and say it was this year, would i have to pay back my holiday pay or do they just start a new contract from scratch?

Did they pay you holiday pay for time you had already accrued throughout the year or did they pay you holiday pay for the WHOLE year? If they did pay you for the whole year they did that out of generosity. Chances are if you did go back you would start a new contract.
Furthermore, unless stipulated in your exit interview, they cannot expect you to pay back that money if you do return.
