1) Jesus only showed anger towards the religious leaders, but to the “sinners” He was a friend
2) Even when Jesus could have been the most “offended”, He said, “Father forgive them; for they know not what they do”.
3) Jesus commands us, “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you”
If we hold that they are “blind” and “dead”, then it is absurd to be offended by what they think, say, or do. They are only doing what comes naturally to them, for they are born in sin and they don’t even know what they do.
Isn’t this like getting angry at a blind man and saying, “Open your eyes, man! LOOK at this! What’s WRONG with you?!”
Or better yet, isn’t like getting angry at a corpse and saying, “What’s WRONG with you, man!? Get up! Eat! Drink! Be merry! Don’t just lay there and decompose!”
