1) Jesus only showed anger towards the religious leaders, but to the “sinners” He was a friend

2) Even when Jesus could have been the most “offended”, He said, “Father forgive them; for they know not what they do”.

3) Jesus commands us, “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you”

If we hold that they are “blind” and “dead”, then it is absurd to be offended by what they think, say, or do. They are only doing what comes naturally to them, for they are born in sin and they don’t even know what they do.

Isn’t this like getting angry at a blind man and saying, “Open your eyes, man! LOOK at this! What’s WRONG with you?!”

Or better yet, isn’t like getting angry at a corpse and saying, “What’s WRONG with you, man!? Get up! Eat! Drink! Be merry! Don’t just lay there and decompose!”

2 Timothy 2:24-26 tells us that as servants of the Lord, we are to be kind to and not quarrel with anyone. We should gently teach those who oppose the truth, and be patient with difficult people. Matthew 5:16 tells us “...let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly father.” We should serve unbelievers so that they may see God through us and turn to Him in praise.

I reserve the right to be offended to any thing. Is t sinful? It might be, but I am a sinner too. But there are great reasons why to be offended, righteous anger is something that God will bring as well, so it is not ALWAYS a bad thing. I do not believe that Jesus talked in calm even tones when he rebuked Peter, I do not believe that Paul talked in calm even tones when he cursed Bar- Jesus to blindness, or the woman who the demons were having reveal him as a preacher of the Gospel. I do not believe that Peter used calm even tones when Ananias and Sapphira led about their possessions.

We can know when we are being right about being offended when the Spirit of God moves us. Until then, be angry and sin not - and I will be whatever I have to be for God. I have chosen the better thing, and it will not be taken from me.

there were some there that knew what they were doing and there were some there that did not know what they were doing so do you think that Jesus was talking about all of them or was he talking about the ones that didn't know what they were doing? (Only asked for forgiveness for those that did not know what they were doing)
as far as Christ being angry wasn't he angry when he cleared the Temple, he was angry with every one that was there making a mockery of his Fathers house.
The Word is written on our heart. Any one that breaths has a soul, therefor yes I am offended at those that hate my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and try to make a mockery of Him,

I think that getting offended is just a natural emotional response. But unless you're a mind-reader, how do you know what we're feeling? When I see someone post an offending or hateful question, it saddens me that some people have to be so cruel, and that they don't know Jesus. I don't get mad at them. I just pray that they will soften their hearts to God and eventually find Him.

Yes, the spirit of offense is actually a sign of the end times!

We are called to be sources of light in a darkened world.

Here are some references:

Matthew 13:21, "Yet hath he not root in himself, but endureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended."

It reminds us that we should not operate out of a spirit of offense because of persecution--the corresponding verse to this that I really like is this:

Psalms 119:165, "Great peace have they which love thy law: and NOTHING shall offend them."

One of the signs of the END TIME is a spirit of offense, Jesus said:

Matthew 24:9-10, "Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall MANY be OFFENDED, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another."

Your right, religion has handled things in the wrong way, as said the blind can't lead the blind and that is what's happening in today's religion.

that's difficult to easily right any place when you have made a behavioral dedication to that place. In psychology, that's Festinger's concept of cognitive dissonance. Our ideas replace to conform to our habit extremely than taking a greater durable step to alter our habit to convey it in line with the fact. Our Protestant acquaintances are heavily invested of their non secular habit, which consists of tithing to guy-made companies developed to oppose the church, coaching of their Sunday faculties, and dealing of their charitable initiatives. those movements are not all undesirable, yet they commit Protestants to the blunders of Protestantism, maximum particularly salvation by employing faith on my own (which relieves them of the concrete movements required by employing Christianity) and scripture on my own because of the fact the only source of revelatory fact (which permits each and every reader to be a private interpreter of Christianity), i wish all seekers of fact will a minimum of enable that Catholics do no longer worship statues, nor do they worship Mary, nor do we predict to earn our way into heaven by using reliable works. i wish they could a minimum of comprehend that no longer all clergymen are pedophiles (in all probability none interior the final 30 years), and that Catholic sacred custom comes from Jesus and is no longer guy-made (although Catholics have developed traditions like Christmas celebrations). i wish all will comprehend that Catholics are Christians, certainly, the unique Christians of the Bible. Arguing positions as discredited as those you have listed demonstrates prejudice and a closed innovations, and discredits the poster as a logician. Cheers, Bruce

Again, as I have said here numerous times-not all Believers are like that!

I do not take offense. On the contrary, I wish nothing more that for everyone to COME to know Christ!

I know that there are other Believers here that feel just like I do-so please don't make such hasty gereralizations!
