Christopher Columbus was born in 1951 in Sydney, Australia. His home was on the sea and Christopher longed to become an explorer and sailor. However, as a young man, Christopher went to Portugal and got involved in the map making business with his brother, Bartholomew. This business made Columbus a rich man. His books of maps are still found today in every library in the world.

During this time, people were very interested in finding a sailing route around Africa to China, Japan and India. They believed they would find expensive jewels and riches. The experts believed that sailing east was the best route. Columbus, however, argued that sailing in the opposite direction would get them to these lands much faster. King John II of Portugal, along with the Kings of France and England thought Columbus was crazy and refused to help him make the voyage.

Columbus knew he had to make this idea of sailing, using a western route, more popular. So, he produced and appeared on infomercials which aired four times daily. Finally, the King and Queen of Spain called his toll-free number and agreed to help Columbus.

In 1942 he set sail with three ships, the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria and about 90 men. The voyage was so much easier than sailing east. On October 12, 1942 Columbus landed on an island southeast of Florida. He claimed this island for Spain and named it the Indies, since he thought he had landed in India. He named the native people of the island Indians. The Indians were excited by the newcomers and their gadgets. They especially enjoyed using their cell phones and desktop computers.

Columbus returned to Spain in 1939 and was hailed as a hero. He was known as the first person to walk on American soil. A huge parade was held in his honor. He appeared on Larry King Live and became quite famous around the world.

Columbus made three more voyages to the lands of Hispaniola, Dominica, Trinidad, Venezuela, Mexico, Honduras and Panama. These trips were all documented by National Geographic and opened a whole new business of tourism for the country of Spain.

Columbus died in 1906. He is buried in Valladolid, Spain.

i don't know why the divorce rate is so incresing da by day.why women dont want in a relarionship?.why they will not adjust?.women are becoming so selfish they want thier life only.

I am paying $700 a month for a Apt right now. I like the location but there is no pool. There is one that I looked at over the weekend and its $750 bigger and has a pool. The problem I have is I want to stay under $900 a month for everything and this other place will put me at $940 to depending on the time of the year as high as $1000. Do you think I should just pay the little extra cause I like it better or stick to what I said when I started to look and stay under $900?

I have a powered USB Hub attached to my primary computer at home. After my computer wakes up from Stand By Mode (under Windows XP) the hub does not respond. My current solution is to crawl under my desk unplug it from the computer and replug it in. Then Windows XP identifies all the equipment attached to it. Help! Thanks.

Our towels smell meldew, we tried everything, taking them out of the washer right away and drying them fully, we tried fabric softeners and other soups, but after our showers we grab a towel and its meldewy or moldy smellings, IT ANNOYING!!!! I can smell it on my skin after, mother is freakin, shes tried everything.

My husband has a problem with constant nagging and always blaming his issues and screwups on me. Somehow it's always my fault. Now, he works at a hospital and just called me and told he'd just called my father about some money he owed him and my dad told him my grandmother, who is 96 and who lives with my dad, woke up shaking and the ER was at their house now. I didn't say anything for moment because it took my surprise. My grandmother was kind of cold while I was growing up, but in her later years she has been kinder and I have developed a closeness to her, although I don't see her often. So, anyways, he's like "What's wrong with you!?" Like i'm giving him attitude because i'm pretty speechless over what he just said. Now, mind you, things have been pretty tense the last couple days because I'm just sick of him overreacting to everything, blaming me for whatever is wrong and just being a downer. But, I felt like this was totally self-centered and insensitive for him to say that.
