Yes, but God is not the author of confusion, and when
we delibertly disregard His ways, we are in danger of
His displeasure, and He can show that displeasure in
a "way" which is far above our ways:
Psalms 2:4, each verse of this psalm has a star beside it
in my bible, showing that it is prophesy about Jesus; verse
4, "He that sitteth in the heavens SHALL LAUGH::: the
Lord shall have them in DERISION"; derision is # 3932
in Strong's Hebrew Dictionary and means, AS IF
IMITATING A FOREIGNER, SPEAK UNINTELLIGIBLY,
MOCK.
God is a God of order, not of confusion, and the spirit is
subject unto us; 1 Cor 14:32-33. The spirit does not
overcome us and cause us to act contrary to the Word
of God.
May God never have us in derision!!!

Yes, they are still given today. Yes, they are important to the Church. We as a church have gotten away from it.
Edit:
When I speak of the Church, I am talking about the whole body of Christian believers, regardless of denomination. Most people think of Pentecostal Protestants (tent revivals, "holy rollers" etc.) when they see or hear the word "charismatic", but people with charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit exist in all denominations. I myself am Catholic, and there are charismatic Catholics, although you don't hear much about them, even within Catholicism itself. But we are out there. I was introduced to charismatic Catholicism by my wife, who is Asian, and from Malaysia. We are both officially members of a charismatic prayer group from there that she has always been a member of, even though we both live here in the U.S. now. The charismatic Catholic movement is bigger overseas in Asia and Africa than it is here in the U.S.
One thing you need to remember is what St. Paul says about gifts like speaking in tongues, prophecy, etc, in Scripture. He says it must be done in such a way that it builds up the Church (1 Corinthians, Ch. 14)

Yes, given, but must be used in the correct context.
Corinthians says that the gift of prophesy should
especially be sought, though love and faith is even
more important than that!
Prophesy can even be essential in ministering - in
the pattern of how Jesus ministered to the woman
at the well - telling her all she ever did and truly
knowing her heart - what she would believe and needed
to hear! Of course is always starts with a certain willingness
in everyone who comes to believe in Jesus.
Faith only builds of faith and not on a closed mind.
We all know this anyway!

Yes they still imparted and valuable. They have been misused and will continue to at times be abused. But if time is spent seeking the Lord then there are those annointed to prophecy, all may be given the gift of tongues, discernment and all the other gifts but much time and energy must be given to seeking and knowing the Lord Jesus first.

Most definitely yes, but the Evil One makes sure they are ridiculed or even not even heard of. There have been so many cases of out and out miracles that have been hushed up or the people that have prophesied have been made to look foolish etc. There have been true visionaries but then he comes along and says "look, the Virgin Mary is on this grilled cheese sandwich"--just to try to debunk the real thing.

The second you use the term "Charismatic", you set yourself up to be misunderstood. You identify yourself with the so-called Charismatic movement, which has grossly twisted the gifts of the Holy Spirit, even adding to them what is not found anywhere in the Bible at all, and you make yourself a mockery of all that is Christian.
Yes, I believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still given today, but I do NOT believe that the Holy Spirit is causing anyone to fall over, or make noises like farm animals, or stumble around like someone who has had too much to drink, or babble like idiots, or any other such nonsense.
I do believe that He is still giving real gifts, though...gifts of faith, gifts of charity, gifts of prophecy (which is the gift of telling the truth of God), the gift of discernment, and even the true gift of tongues, which is actually the ability to speak to and understand someone who speaks in an entirely different language. He does not give these gifts in order for people to flaunt themselves as having "a special anointing from God', to claim such a thing is to claim to be a Christ...and we know that Jesus warned us about false Christs. He gives these gifts as He wills, which is the same thing as saying "according to the will of God", and we know that God's will for us is to love one another, and be humble, as one another's servants. He who would be great among the men of earth exalts himself, considering himself to be some great thing...but he who would be great in heaven must be as a little child...he must be willing to be the servant of all.
Consider, did Jesus live in a mansion, or ride in a fancy carriage? Of course not. He was willing to gird up his loins and take water and a towel, to wash the disciples feet. Did He go into fancy inns, expecting to be recognized and waited on like some big television star? No, He was found cooking breakfast on the lake shore. Jesus taught us that we must have compassion on those less fortunate than ourselves, even to telling us that what we do for the LEAST of these people, we do for Him.
What fools we are, to sit at the feet of some much-vaunted "televangelist" who can literally drive up to the television studio dressed in clothing and wearing jewelry that cost more than most of us make in a month...driving right past homeless shelters, food banks, and other charities along the way. And then we actually send them our own hard earned money, thinking that somehow we are giving it to God. How utterly ridiculous.
And then, after having made such a mockery of our own faith, we dare to complain when people like those in this forum laugh at Christianity as if it were some huge joke.
But, be assured of this one thing...God is not mocked.
Think about it.

No! The gifts are so distorted from what originally happened that it is best to avoid even the discussion of it due to the ignorance that surrounds those that practice modern day healing and tongues.

I hate to burst everyones bubble, but the "sign gifts" were for the SIGN NATION/Israel. When God set ASIDE Israel to bring about "the preaching of Jesus Christ ACCORDING TO THE REVELATION of the Mystery ..."Rom. 16:25, he set aside those "sign gifts" as well.
God is dealing with mankind on the basis of "walking by FAITH and not by sight" today.

I believe they are all for today. But everything should be checked by the Bible to see if it's true, every prophecy, every teaching, every practice.
