So...title says it all. My dad's a drunk, and has been since before I was born. Only recently (past few years) has he started drinking around the house. I don't really have the right to complain about him too much because he's not abusive and usually is just passed out on the couch. The thing is, I just get really angry with him. When I look at him, i get pissed off, i can't talk to him without getting angry, especially when I can smell it on his breath. And when he doesn't come home (he commutes) I end up doing all the housework that he usually does. He's outwardly admitted to all of us that he has a drinking problem but that was two years ago and he's not making any progress! The other week my mom said that I should congratulate him for going to two AA meetings, but I found beer cans in the way bottom of the recycling (he hid them) and when I opened the trunk of his car to get some groceries out he had a cooler full of ice and beer. It is just frustrating..anything i can do?

I have a huge backyard in my new house. The previous owners added filler dirt, but it ran off into the neighbors' yards and now I have holes under the fence. Half of the backyard was sodded and the back half was not (where the dirt has run off). Our neighbor has a pond for several days after it rains because my backyard runs off into theirs. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Also, I have NO trees as the developer bulldozed all the natural trees and the previous owners never planted any. I live in Texas and it is very hot in my area during summer/fall.What are some good trees to plant?

Thanks in advance!
Kari

Most, if not all, are taking a reactive approach to solving problems. I'm going to do this because of this(whatever happened). I realize it's necessary to remember the past for the sake of the future, but I do not see any candidates, republican or democrat, with a vision into the future. Do you?

Americans deserve a real leader, right?

I read that millions of years ago when apes hadn't evolved into humans yet, they would bite each others heads off and fight each other. There was obviously no right and wrong. You know...survival of the fittest. I want to know how it is possible that when one of the apes was about to kill another ape he said, "Stop...I think that killing is wrong. Maybe we should set up some rules. I feel like biting your head of because you were about to steal my girl is wrong.
If we are all "animals" and the lion is allowed to attack a gazelle and eat him. Why is it wrong for me to kill? Survival of the fittest…right? And for that matter, why do I know what’s right and wrong. I can feel it. I see someone who is hurt, I want to help. The lion sees a gazelle who is limping; he attacks it and eats it.
Where did the feeling of right and wrong come from?

Thank you for your thoughts.
I’m just trying to figure out what I believe or what I don't believe.

I have a male kitten, about 4 months old, not yet fixed.

I've heard terrible things about male cats and their tendency to "spray"... but I am not sure when this starts, and what steps can be taken to prevent it from happening.

He will be getting fixed very soon, but is he likely to start spraying afterward? How can I protect my furniture? Is there an age when male cats begin to spray? Do ALL male cats spray? Is there a possibility that he may not spray at all?

Thank you so much for your help!

i checked this site http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/urine-odor/AN00958 and it said foul smelling urine is usually due to an infection of the kidneys or bladder. but i have been smelling this awful smell in the bathroom for weeks now and finally figured out it was my youngest daughter's urine so i cant believe it could be an infection or she would have been very ill by now. she says there has not been any itching or burning and she has not had any fever. she doesnt eat asparagus and there have not been any changes in her diet so i am very perplexed about this. i am going to make a doctor's appt on monday.

Nebraska has talent this year. Sam Keller can be a great player once he is comfortable with the offense. Lucky is a big threat. He is one of the best running backs in the country. Not to mention he has a back up. (Castille) who is only 17! and already a star. Yes USC is #1 but nebraska will not give up. Nebraska is all about fooball period.

I know, I know, bad bad bad.

Here's the situation:

I have been a good customer for over 10 years.

I have excellent credit.

I have funds to pay off the credit card and am about to (half now, half in January).

I have a lot of expenses in the summer, so my pattern has always been that I run the bill up in the summer and pay it off completely (half in fall and half after Christmas).

This is the FIRST TIME this has EVER happened, and it's by less than $100.

AND ***** I wouldn't have gone over if it wasn't for an incorrect charge.

SO....

1) Do I dispute the charge or ask the company that messed up to refund it (seems like a refund in the present would not address the overlimit issue but a dispute would)?

2) My agreement says default=any incident of going over the limit...is this kind of thing automatically triggered - am I better off not to bring it up before I pay off the balance?

Thanks :-)
