As a Vietnam vet and because of the degredation of societal mores, I really think that 2 years (mandantory) for every one to serve in the armed forces, would be an asset..Do you agree/disagree..Why...?

I'll start by admitting I know nothing about anything, so hurl away with the insults should you feel compelled.

But it's been proven, at least by correlational data, that the more educated a population is, the less likely it adheres to religious beliefs. Yet, the United States, the most powerful (and, in my opinion, greatest) country in the world is deeply religious.

Question: Is the population of the United States well educated?

I just moved into an apartment where everything inside is straight out of 1961. there's this huge old monstrosity of an oven made by the Crown corporation, and the oven has to be hand-lit every time before use. I tried to heat up some taco shells last night (my girlfriend makes delicious tacos!) and when i tried to light it there was a little mini-explosion. What did I do wrong and how do i cook something without being terrified every time?

There was a previous question about canned water and it got me interested. I am ready to work for a beverage company product development team and I would like some ideas as to what people like besides water in a can.

I am seperated after a 5 year relationship and 4 years of marriage...I have, I thought a best friend of 25 years that does not agree with what I have done...heck neither do I. I cheated, I own it and I did it. WELL, she has decided to play both sides...telling things that I entrusted in her for years and especially over the past months. She has her skeletons but I choose not to play that game with her. She says she told these things to her boyfriend and he went to my husband and told him. I have not totally told my husband everything felt like I had already caused enough pain. So what do I do...do I write her off...she is going in for gastric bypass surgery which I had back in October 2006 she has hers Wednesday and I do plan on being there...she doesn't not want to be with this guy. I keep thinking she is pushing me to tell her discretions so he will leave...maybe I should??

We have a small bathroom shared by our kids. The house is about 25 years old and the tub in their bathroom is in bad shape. The drain, faucet, and shower head are all corroded and generally in in poor shape. The tub is dingy and needs new caulk. And, the tiles around the tub are loose.

I was at Home Depot and saw 'tub inserts' for around $300, this is the tub and the walls all together as one piece. This looks like the perfect solution, it would resolve both the tile wall and the bathtub issues with one 'swoop'. I have several questions...

- Are these inserts any good? We live in an area where mold/mildew in bathrooms is a constant issue. I am hoping a 'sealed' unit will make for easier cleaning.

- What can I expect to pay to have the new tub put in?

- It is worth it to do some of the work myself? such as the demolition?

Is Charlie Weis gonna get canned the same way Willingham got it after three years? Weis got to ride on Willingham's recruit of Brady Quinn his first two years, and now they look as sorry as ever and won't finish with a winning record.

My step-daughter is a bed wetter. She stopped wetting the bed when she was 2, started again when she was 4, is now 5. I think it started again cause of stress a lot has happened in a year. We had been working hard with her when she stays with us to limit fluid intake at night and making sure she goes potty before she goes to bed. All of the things you can due to help a child who wants to stop wetting the bed. She tells me constanly that she want to stop and that she doesn't like doing it. Well last night she stayed with us cause her mom was going out of town today and I was to take her to school this morning. I had forgotten to remind her to go to the bathroom before she went and layed down. She had been in bed for about an hour and a half and was still awake and I told her to get up and go and she said but I already went in my pull up. I was so upset. Why did she just lay there and pee when she should of gotten up. She acted like nothing was wrong with that! What is there to do?

she is only 7. she has been at one place for 4 years and it is fine. she knows a couple of the kids and it is familiar. the dancing of the older kids at recital is not good. it is actually boring. I feel the need to switch to a better teaching place. one just opened that I know will teach better but she is nervous because she loves dance but she doesn't know how she will do with another teacher. should i just settle and stay at the same place or just trust to move and i know she would do good and she very good at making friends, etc. the same as going to school! I know she probably won't be a professional dancer but for the money, I want her to learn what she can! thanks.

I've done some crunching on my expenses and I've got to make some hard choices. I've just started a program for an MA in history. My BA is in the same thing. However, it looks like I won't be getting much financial aid, except for loans.

I don't think I can work a full-time job and succeed in grad school. I successfully did it during my undergrad, but grad school takes more concentration. I have enough in savings to last 2 years if I work part time. At the completion of my master's I'll be about broke.

They're offering me $8500 a year in loans, which is about what I need for school and rent. But then I'd be adding $17k to the $10k I already have in student loan debt.

Or should I go to work full time, save some money, and come back to school?

Before I start, don't get me wrong.. I respect your religion and what you believe in.

I have been to three different churches (various girlfriends dragged me there).. Catholic, Baptist, and an Atheist church. And within the 3 or 4 hours of sitting there, all three of those churches said the same thing "if your not a devowed _______, your going to hell."

I began to think, if that's the case, we're all pretty much screwed.

Anyway, my question is this.. why are religious people so bent on this is the way it HAS to be. "The way of god", "jesus is the path", etc etc.. "let jesus into your heart", all the rest. I try to explain to people that I am not a devowed anything, and the serious religious people look at me like im the devil's son or something.

Just because I am not religious doesn't make me a bad person, and yet some seriously devowed people look at me like im the anti-christ. What is it about these people?
