It means to the Founders and those of their decent. Take a look a picture of the Founders and figure out for yourself what that means. Posterity means Children, by the way. They never figured on a multiracial democracy, and in fact would be appalled by the very thought of it. Read Thomas Jefferson--the most liberal--and judge for yourself. They in fact where what would be today called racist.

So to translate it means: To secure the Blessings of Liberty to us of the White Race and to other Whites--of Anglo-Saxon Protestant decent--after us. Sorry but that is what it really means in straight modern English.

Everyone, with a few exceptions like Noah and Enoch, did go to "hell" (sheol, the grave) before Jesus died on the cross. It's said that for the three days before he rose, Jesus "preached in hell" (ministered to the souls of the dead) and some there were saved. I don't know about all that, but it sounds like reasonable justice. If not, then the pre-Christian still sleep in God's memory awaiting judgment in the end of days. Jesus's atonement for our sins covers not just the sins you sinned before confirmation, but proactively covers the sins you will almost certainly stumble into in the future! The catch is, you don't get to blithely keep wallowing in sin as if it didn't matter - an insincere repentance is no repentance at all. But having once accepted salvation, the sincerely repentant disciple remains saved despite stumbling. That's what Jesus's death for our sins really means. Hope it helps.

It means that we should live our lives so that we pass on to future generations the privileges and freedoms we have enjoyed in a country that subscribes to the idea that there is liberty and justice for all.

Unfortunately, we're quickly headed down a slippery slope that is allowing those freedoms to be snatched from us. If we don't get off the sofa, put down the remote, and actually exercise our Constitutional rights to "keep and bear arms" against a tyrannical and oppressive government, we will wake up one day - soon - to find ourselves living under a totalitarian governance. -RKO- 09/04/07
