Does doing journalism at university allow for good options after graduation or are you basically stuck in one certain topic area. If the answer is yes, then can anyone make any suggestions to what i should do?! thanxxxx

Journalism can open doors for graduate school if you do well enough. Writing is such an important aspect of most graduate programs, including and especially law, if you have any interest in that.

Otherwise, just having a bachelor's CAN serve you well if you're good enough and get lucky. More and more, however, the odds become stacked against people with the basic college degree.

I say consider graduate school, the Peace Corps, or some other additional experience beyond undergrad that will set you apart from the hundreds of other journalism degree holders that will graduate with you.

Journalism opens doors.

Obviously you enjoy writing. If you have a degree in journalim you could find yourself with loads of avenues to choose including TV presenting, reading the news, weather, talk show of your own, writing a column in a magazine or newspaper. Your could a freelance writer and work from home its endless.

Most of our current TV presenters in the UK started life in university studying journalism. Its a good degree to have for many reasons

i would imagine jouranlism is a career in tv, papers,magazines etc. should be a promising, diversifying & interesting career.

whatever you qualify in will limit your education to the specefic topic area, but that's not to say its the only topic area you are restricted to. Restrictions are more applicable to somebody with little education or working skills .. ie shop assistants. Its a Global Market .. Go qualify & enjoy !!

It opens up options for jobs specifically that require journalism i.e. newspaper reporters. It also opens up opportunities for jobs that require any degree rather than a specific subject.
