The New Orleans Police Department pays it officers 38K a year. The after taxes take home is much less of course.

I live in California, where of course prices for rents, gas, food and probaly most else is the highest in the USA. But I find it hard to fathom how anyone could actually live much above the poverty level on 38K a year.

I'm single and have been considering applying to the NOPD. I am curious how someone could live decently on such a very low salary. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks

My mom found a double wide in the classifieds for $70,000. It has 5.5 acres and it said that it had bricks around the trailer. Turns out, the whole trailer was bricked up like a regular house. In fact, if you were to drive by without knowing it's a trailer, you would have never known. They've added a carport and a nice porch to it.

The double wide itself is about 30 years old or more. The inside needs a good bit of work, mostly just repainting everything and new carpet and linoleum (sp?). It could be fixed up very nice. The man said he would take $65,000 for it. My fiance and I are getting married in September and have been looking for a place to live.

Do you think this would be a good investment? I am kind of leary about buying a 30 year old trailer. I don't know what kind of regulations they had back then. At the same time though, it could be fixed up very nice. I have it pictured in my mind. It's also in a pretty location.

Please give me a list of reasons as to why it was a good idea to invade Iraq -I understand that it would be stupid to pull out when the job is still not done. But I am asking this because I tend to not watch the news; as I know it can be biased, I used to. I was very aware and in the know when it 1st started-current events-but with the fact that they (media) twist things around and what not, I'd rather find out from credible sources, like yourselves (who have been there and know etc). I am just doing this so when people ask me what I think about it (Doing AF ROTC) , I don't give them reasons why I think; but instead reasons of why I know-but not bad ones. People will argue it's for oil, I believe it is so we will not be defeated by our enemies-but in depth, it'd be great to know. No Bush bashing, I already made it clear -just for those who know or have been there, not those who think they know, but haven't even served! Thanks.

About the way I see things, I ask God every night to show me the truth, if my dreams, obe's ect are from satan then to show me, teach me the truth of it all, what religion is right ect, I have begged him to show me over and over. He seems to keep me on the same path, more dreams, the only difference is I am not scared of them anymore. but nothing has changed except the peace I feel over my life. I refuse to go to church, I feel most not all in the church are hypocrites. I did say not all. But I feel peace, total peace in my choices. so am I wrong, or should I listen to what I believe God is telling me?

Mine at my kitchen sink need a good cleaning tomarrow, thery're the mini blinds. I'm going to take them down tomarrow for a cleaning, they're still in perfect shape so I don't want to replace right now. Any suggestions from past experience on the best way to do this, without tearing them up?

my situation's a bit different. i'm 15 years old and i've graduated highschool with honors, and i've taken some courses at the community college by my house at the age of 14. i made mostly a's in highschool and all a's in my college courses. but i now want to move on to a nice university (hopefully on a full scholarship =] ). i live in the dfw area, texas and would prefer a college closer to home, but going out of state is fine with me. i'd love to go to stanford but i don't know how high their standards are. i also am stuck between what to DO. i'd like to become a pediatrician, or a teen magazine editor, but mostly i'm intrested in buying and selling stocks. i just want to make as much money possible, doing the least amount of work. any help?
