I am getting married Aug. 31, 2008. I can't find a place that is affordable that I like. Anyone know of a country club or a pretty church that you do not have to be a member. I would love to get married outside or atleast have the wedding and the reception at the same place. But right now I open for anything. Any help would be great. Thanks.

My son is 16 months old and since he was born he has slept with mommy. Being a single mother, I have my reasons why. I have been attempting to break him of the habit of having to fall asleep with me. I have started with nap time and putting him in his pack and play so he cant get out and he is safe. The last 4 times I put him in there he threw up 2 times from crying to hard. I lay him down with a bottle and say goodnight and leave the room. I am worried about him throwing up and possibly suffocating or something. I try to check on him, but if he sees me it makes it so much worse. I need help with ideas about how to put him to sleep by himself. Thanks for all your ideas. The real ones are really appreciated. I understand there are alot of people who don't agree about a child sleeping with their parent, so the negative comments about that decision is not welcome.

Thanks!!!!!
Cathy

The graduate program I would like to apply to requires you to have a faculty sponsor before applying. What is the best way to approach faculty members with interesting research in order to find out if they will be able to take you on as a graduate student? I was thinking of emailing them my CV and research interests, but other than that I am at a loss.

Thank you.

I read on here about parents who feel that it's better for their children (of any age) to think that babies grow in a woman's tummy and come out of her bottom or are cut out of their tummy -or- that the stork or angels bring them -or- any of a number of other non-factual stories.

Why?

What's wrong with a kid knowing that a baby grows in a special place inside mom that's called a 'uterus' and comes out of another special place, which is part of her private parts, called a 'vagina'? How could the child be harmed by knowing this?

My kids know this. Am I harming them in some way?

Really, some of the reproduction explanations that I read on here are kind of disturbing and confusing when you think about them, especially in comparison to the simple truth.

Starting to get desperate for ideas here, anyone know of a guy that has them and if they like them. We're off to a waterpark in 2 weeks and think they'll come in handy there.

And why do people continue to believe things that have been disproven?

I've asked this in the Environment section and haven't gotten a good answer, except that people will believe what they want to believe.

For example, that volcanoes cause global warming when in reality they contribute 1% the greenhouse gases of humans and actually cause global cooling. Or that the sun is responsible for global warming when the only other planets warming are parts of Mars (due to dust storms darkening the surface, and other parts of Mars are cooling!) and Pluto. If it were due to the sun, every planet would be warming inversely proportionate to their distances from the sun! Or any number of myths that people have brought up here, from cow farts to soda pop causing global warming. Or that it's all a hoax perpetrated by scientists who don't even make profits.

My work colleauge is being sent horrible emails by members of her ex-husbands family. including swearing and name calling. also called her her murderer, and saying she abandoned her child.
also another person has been harassing her friend for ages, and now is sending her messages of sexual nature, but not directed at her. rather describing sexual acts regarding her friend.
she has never responded with swearing or insults, as she is a very timid, mild person.
i have sent both these ppl emails to tell them its harrassment and whatever, but they persist.
my poor colleauge is in tears and very distressed.
i searched the web for some kind of legal resource, but it only relates to workplace sexual harrassment.
i really want to nail these pricks for her sake.
what can anyone suggest?

my 14 month old son has gotten these pimple/mosquito like bumps behind/on his ears, one on the back of his head, and multiple ones on he back of his neck. They started out just 2 behind one ear and over the last 2-3 days have spread over his neck and other ear. I thought chicken pox, but they aren't spreading elsewhere and he's not running a fever or anything like that. I've had a few people with older kids take a gander and they say they have no idea. There are 10 little red bumps total with little clear tops. I've looked up every skin problem under the sun both online and in books, but I still have no clue what it is! We haven't used anything new on him as far as shampoo, soap or laundry soap goes and he hasn't been on any new meds that could break him out. What could it be?

I have a 55 gallon tank that we just bought and set up on April 30 of this year. The tank has just finished it's cycle (about 1 week ago) and right before it was finished, I noticed that the water had a yellowish cast to it.

Here's what I have in my tank: 2 blue gouramis, 2 dwarf flame gouramis, 3 conga tetras, 1 rainbow shark, 1 pleco and 2 cory cats. I have a Penguin Bio-Wheel 350 filter and a heater, of course. The bottom is white and red rock with 3 castles---1 lg. and 2 sm.---and 2 artificial plants.

When I turn the light on in the aquarium, the water looks fine. But, if the light is off, it just looks yellow/green. The water is NOT murky/cloudy AT ALL. My fish seem to be doing fine. The tank does not sit near a window or any where near where light can hit the tank at all. I don't see any moss growing on anything in there, either....

Any ideas on what's causing this and how I can make my water look clean again?

Thanks in advance,
Karen
