I have seen them in Alaska. Each time I thought I was seeing a small bear cub at first, then noticed that the animal was a little too small, the head was also too small in proportion to the body, and the tail makes the wolverine look much more elongated than a bear cub. Up close, the wolverine's face looks much like a large badger or raccoon, and nothing at all like a bear. When they are running, they move with slightly undulating pattern, similar to related species like weasels and mink.
