My guess is that part of the reason your dad won't let you get a kitten is because he's worried you won't take care of it (and he'll have to end up caring for it). When I was younger, we already had cats, but my brother and I wanted guinea pigs. My parents were totally against the idea because they didn't think we would take care of them - so we showed them that we were responsible by "adopting" a turtle that we found on a camping trip. They told us that we could have guinea pigs if we let the turtle go. Show your dad you're responsible and really want a cat - offer to babysit a cat in the neighborhood while its owners are out of town. Hopefully once your dad sees that you can handle the responsibility, he'll let you have one. Or, take your dad to the local animal shelter and hope that he thinks one of the cats is cute (so he'll also want a cat). Good luck. :)

Keep asking. Show him pictures of cute kittens and completely go ga-ga over it, saying stuff like, "Oh, if I had a kitten, She'd be even cuter than that. Look at that! Aww!!!" Get a stuffed cat, and do things with it like a real cat, like sit and pet it or something, and say, "See, this is how I'd be with a real cat. Love it, pet it, make it feel at home, take real good care of it." If you have to cry, pout, post pictures of cats all over the house. Just keep wracking it into his brain, he might come around. Granted, it took me 13 years to get a puppy!!

Find a bowl, put it on the floor. Make a cat bed and put it where your dad will see it allllllll the time. Not necessarily where you would really want to put it. Fill a small box full of torn up paper for the cat box. Then carry around a sad thing...like a small bag of beans or a stuffed sock. Name it FLUFFY and carry it with you everywhere! Feed it (pretend), sleep with it, even run to it when you come home and say "Oh Fluffy, I love you! I just wish you would purr and come find me too." LOL
That will get him.

Wellllll, you can always bring one home and hide it in your room like i did! lol then by the time they found out I was already to in love with it and they saw that so they let me keep it. But i wouldnt recomend this cuz it dont always work.... You should definatly show him that you are dedicated, and will take good care of it! If you are to young to have a job maybe your father cant afford to own a cat....then theres nothing you can do about it!! But yea you should not bug him and bug him, just show him your ready and willing to take good care of it!

Sounds like my dad when I was young! This happened to us. We begged for a few minutes. But that never goes over well. Try being REAL good and sweet, and do your chores. Read up on cats and tell him that you know how to care for it. Smile. Look cute. Hug your dad!

Convince your mom that you should have one, then let her try and make your dad see reason. Be as good as possible and let your parents see that you are responsible enough for a cat. Good luck!
