my 14 month old son has gotten these pimple/mosquito like bumps behind/on his ears, one on the back of his head, and multiple ones on he back of his neck. They started out just 2 behind one ear and over the last 2-3 days have spread over his neck and other ear. I thought chicken pox, but they aren't spreading elsewhere and he's not running a fever or anything like that. I've had a few people with older kids take a gander and they say they have no idea. There are 10 little red bumps total with little clear tops. I've looked up every skin problem under the sun both online and in books, but I still have no clue what it is! We haven't used anything new on him as far as shampoo, soap or laundry soap goes and he hasn't been on any new meds that could break him out. What could it be?

they aren't bug bites. he's never outside often enough and if they were bug bites, i'd be covered in them. mosquitos seem to love me for some reason, lol. but no i'm sure they aren't bug bites. he gets sprayed with Off! Family formula every where skin is exposed, especially on the back of his neck. that and the bumps aren't anywhere else.

My son had a similar "rash" on his neck. I took him to the doctor and he took one look at it and said that it was molloskum contagiosum. It is a virus similar to warts. He said that they will go away on their own and you really don't want to "treat" them. You could freeze them off like warts, but it would be too traumatic for a child and just isn't necessary. I looked on the Internet (I think on webmd.com) and found pictures and I could tell that was what my son had. You might try that. If that is what he has there is really no reason to take him to the doctor for it, but if it isn't that I would probably take him in to get it checked out.

Well I would of guessed heat rash. And you can get that whether you outside or not. But I've never seen heat rash with little white heads like pimples. So my second guess would be an allergic reaction. It doesn't have to be food it could be laundry soup, bath soap, you name it.

Are they mosquito bites. It would be just about the right time for them to start, and thats an area that sometimes gets missed when bug spraying. The only other thing I know of that causes little read bumps - is "hand foot and mouth" but those strangely show up on your palms and tummy.

sounds like what my daughter had. a friend of mine, her child also had it n the doctors said it was a side affect from a virus that had been goin around. my daughter had it for like 2 weeks it wasn't itchy or anything just red bumps. Before that she was throwing up n had diarrhea. they just went away on their own. i wouldn't worry to much. hope i helped u out.

When I was very small this was how my mother found out we had caught lice from school. Our necks and ears were covered in bites. Check his hair for as safety precaution you can get lice from almost anywhere and its much better to treat them as quickly as you can before it get really bad.

Heat rash maybe, or some type of bug bite. Have you checked for lice?
