I live in a community with orchards, so there are a lot of Mexicans here. I don't see many white people out there volunteering to pick fruit, so in a way, I understand the orchardists hiring whoever they can find, or else their entire crop will go to waste, and their livlihood. They have to have pickers in a small window of time to get it all done.
I think that these should be given some sort of legal status, because they are needed, but for anyone else, aren't employers supposed to get proof of ability to work in this country? SS cards, Green cards, visas..... Are employers being held accountable to that? Are we tracking under the table jobs in any way? The illegals wouldn't be here if someone wasn't hiring them right?
