I'm on fluoxetine and they make me do the oddest things but when I'm at school it goess overbord my councillor said it's probably because I'm most nervous at school and my bodys not used to not reacting by being upset so I go overboard. I'm restless, I speak my mind even if its inappropriate I can't stop moving, I giggle all the time, I talk to myself, I think theres people behind me and I jump, and when someone talks and im not ready or makes the slightest sound I jump out of my skin. Even at home my parents ask what Ive taken because I carry things on my head! At first it was fun but now it's just getting embarassing and I get funny looks and I can't help it. I even started chewing my friends bag handles! What's going on here!

You need to talk to your doctor. You have other problems. Describe what you wrote to your doctor and he/she should be able to change your meds to suite your needs. Good luck!

Something is clearly wrong here. Are you on a very high dose of Prozac? One side effect is nervousness but yours does sound rather extreme!
The important thing here is that at least you are aware that something is wrong - so you are still grounded and rational enough to recognise there's a bit of a problem.
Are you taking any other legal/illegal drugs...? I'm asking not to be judgemental, just to try and work out what's happening here!
You need to speak to your doctor. Either you are having a bad reaction to the medication - or there is another problem here that is not responding to the medicine.
You must tell your doctor that your behaviour is becoming inappropriate and worrying, and if your doctor does not take you seriously, find another doctor! Make sure your parents know how worried you are, too.

Sounds like you're on the wrong medication or the wrong dosage.
Antidepressants can have side affects but the ones you describe are very extreme.
You should definitely speak to your doctor immediately about your concerns. Fluoxetine may be the wrong antidepressant for you.
There are many new antidepressants.
If after speaking to your doctor you are still concerned, then you should get a second opinion.
Also, it would be wise to talk to a psychiatrist who is qualified in determining what medications are best for you. A councilor or psychologist is not qualified to determine the right medication. That goes for you G.P. doctor as well.

Where did you get the medication? Ask the school counselor to refer you to a licensed psychologist who works with a psychiatrist. There are a great deal of fantastic psychotropic medications that could help, but taking just any-old medication a friend gave you is not a wise choice.
The side effects of psychotropic medication usually diminish within two weeks, and should not give you a buzz/high. But you need the correct medication which is based on a clinical .

I've been on anti-depressents since I was 15 (now 34). Fluoxetine is another word for Prozac, it's not an easy drug. Go back to your doctor and ask for a different anti-depressent. How long have you been taking them? It takes at least 4-5 weeks for the side-affects to subside

Go to your doctor or psychiatrist and tell him or her everything. Sounds like you may have a more serious condition such as BiPolar Disorder. Things aren't working out for you very well so its time to try something new. But don't make these decisions alone; get professional advise.

Because we don't know if any answers here come from professionals or not, please don't take heed of their Diagnosis. You need to see the Doctor who prescribed your medication ASAP.Are you taking anything else that was not prescribed by that Doctor? Are you drinking alcohol? Are you taking any other medicines that your Doctor does not know about?Supplements? You have to tell him all for your own good. All the best in the future.Let us know how you went.

You need to see your doctor and tell her of this behavior. It definantly is not normal and maybe the meds that you are on are not correct for your problem. Chewing on hand bags isn't normal behavior. So I advise you to get an appointment as soon as possible to get this resolved before you incur more problems.

You should go back to your Gp and say what you have said here. The meds your on might not be right for you but only your GP or psychiatrist would know for sure.

You need to tell your doctor everything that you just said and do not leave anything out. This could be very serious if you do not see what is wrong.

You need to discuss this with your doctor and be sure you tell him everything! If this has been going on since February...it's too long.
