I swear, in all 5 years of me converting to Islam, I never once met a fundamentalist in real life who followed me around preaching. I was in the public library with my two children wearing a traditional salwar kameez and my winter coat with the hood up (It hides the hair well). Based on my dress, the woman assumed I had married a Hindu man and converted to Hinduism for him. She kept saying "Oh, you're wrong, be saved, it's the devil". I tried to be respectful at first, saying "This is what you feel. You can say what you want, my beliefs are my beliefs" (I didn't say I wasn't a Hindu, because it wasn't any of her business that I am a muslim woman). She kept on and on, finally I turned around and said "OK, lady, I've been polite to you enough and that doesn't get the message through that I am not interested in preaching.
