I live in SW Michigan on the lake. I plant Morning Glories every year. They are lovely! I generally plant them in late May and they come out in August. Can I start them inside? As long as they have plenty of sun, they should be okay, right? They do need full sun, correct? I've been having problems with them the past few years. #1 problem is bugs esp. those Afids (sorry, I can't spell it!) and Japanese beetles, spray seems to harm the plants. #2 I plant them in a pot and let them grow on an IVY covered thick post. The Ivy seems to overpower them. I don't think the two should be together, am I right? Now, the Ivy grows from the ground and not the pot so the Morning Glories do get their own water. Should I plant them somewhere different without IVY? Also, what kind of soil is best? And are there certain products I can use to speed up the growing process? AND LASTLY, Can I put them in partial sun? Oh, sorry! One more! What are MOONFLOWERS, THEY ARE LIKE MORNING GLORIES?
