He learned that while the speed limit and seat belt laws might not apply to him,the sudden stop at the dashboard applies to everyone. Should we at least be glad that one of our "fine politicians" has had the opportunity for this learning experience? At least now when he preaches on traffic safety he will know what he's talking about. Knowledge is after all power.

No matter what laws are passed, some people will still die because they make stupid mistakes. The only surprising thing here is that the people of NJ as foolish enough to elected a guy that is not even smart enough to wear his seat belt.

He had a "choice" - to buckle up or not to - in spite of the "law". He chose not to and now he is paying the real "fine."

These types of "safety" laws are preventing the natural tendency of nature to "thin" the herd.

Too bad it took such an extreme incident and so much pain to prove a point obvious to most people. I hope he recovers and I hope he learns something.
