My friend who is white called me a nappy head hoe, after the Imus thing came out. We were very close friends & co-workers. When I got home I called him and told him that his comment really hurt my feelings, and then I hung up the phone. It has been more then a week and he still has not said sorry to me.

Please understand that I do not use the "N' word in front of him or talk down about my people.

We were such good friends, I had even asked him to be the godfather of my grandchild.

Please help

I feel for you, especially as you all are such good friends. This is a very delicate issue. If you are sure he was not joking and he has not apologized then he is a racist and not worthy of being your friend, just be glad that he is not yet the godfather of your grandchild.

It's a good thing he showed his true colors before becoming your grandchild's Godfather. A good friend wouldn't have treated you with such disrespect, even it he was just kidding around.
It's a good thing you told him how you felt, if he has a sincere apology for you then great, otherwise you should let this friendship disappear

Even if he said it in jest he was wrong to be so insensitive to your feelings--if he was truly a good friend. Real friends don't hurt their friends.

You've given him plenty of time to make apologies. Even if he is embarrassed over the situation he ought to apologize to you if he values your friendship. Either that or he lacks backbone.

Move on and put this behind you. It's unfortunate that such insensitivity abounds among crass people. I ache for you.

For all the debate of racism, it became into incredibly extra a sexist concern. He became into asserting that the ladies human beings of the Rutger's basketball group have been gruesome and unattractive. incredibly, the ladies human beings have been there to play basketball and in ordinary terms their skills as a collection necessary to be evaluated. winning the sport became into no longer approximately how they appeared. The terminology he used became into from older used Black speech (nappy, which ability kinky or out of varieties) and highway slang (the H be conscious)...the two sexist words used with Black women human beings. no longer all the gang of Rutgers became into Black, via the way. yet Black women human beings in many situations have those themes...police treating my sisters like adult adult males in the event that they have short hair....Black lady athletes no longer receiving the comparable quantity of sponsorship money, no longer according to their overall performance, yet because of the fact those human beings do no longer evaluate them alluring. all of it is going back to "are not I a woman?"...yet you in all danger don't get that reference the two. It became right into a hateful remark, rooted in others' deep emotions approximately Black women human beings, that became into incredibly pointless.

Maybe he didn't realize how offensive it was for you, then again you told him so now he should have gotten the drift. Maybe he's plain stupid and unsensitive? Sometimes you just have to move on. If someone doesn't respect you then don't disrespect yourself by associating with that person.

Call him again and tell him you are sorry that you were sorry... No wait! Whatever you do, just don't listen to people like me.
