Just had a baby boy, and my mother came to the hospital and handed me a gold coin, with no explanation. I think I was supposed to understand, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I imagine it has something to do with prosperity in the child's life, but I'd like to know where this tradition comes from and what exactly it signifies. If it helps, my mother's family is British.

I have the biggest fear of dentists. I have to go to one pretty soon and I shake just thinking of it. I don't want to tell my mom because she doesn't really help. I may need fillings and am really scared. Last time I went, they pulled a tooth out and only used laughing gas. It hurt sooo bad. What should I do to help calm myself?I want to be able to sleep easily at night! Should my mom come with me or not?

ok i am fed up with my isp being so unreliable and was wondering what other options are out there
i live in lakeville, mn my current isp is in prior lake
i get 1mb with phone- caller id the standard crap for $45 a month
great deal but it works when it wants to and they deny a problem
any thing you think is better? need 1mb or better

OK you know those plants that can suppossedly live without water or soil, how do they work? Don't plants need the nutrients from the soil to live? Don't they even need water at all! Are they real plants, or did I just buy a plastic fern? Thanks to any and all comments and help. Thanks! :D
