The American Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson in 1776, begins
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."
But all men are not created equal. There are those born into poverty. Those created with disabilities. Those that are ill, insane, disadvantaged.
What gives ?
