ok so if i copy my OS from one HD to another will it still work i want to format the Old HD but it has the OS

I'm not clear, are you trying to replace the HD on the same system?

If so, yes, but you don't just copy, you need a drive imaging program, such as Acronis. It'll copy the HD contents for you exactly, from existing drive to a new empty HD. That's how you replace an HD containing the system/boot partition. If you just copy/paste the system, you're in for some bad surprises!

So, it is better to reformat the hard drive and re-install a new OS in it. Before doing it, back-up first all your necessary or important files. Coz reformatting your HD will cause data removal.
