is it so necessary to believe in the bible if one believes that there is g-d? i think that if you believe that you will go to hell for your misdeeds that you are not 'getting it.' it would be easier to think of our concept of g-d as the wonder of ALL life, EVERYWHERE. not that i am against atheists stating that there could not be g-d, because i think that they believe that religious people (not those trying to shove their bible thumping down your throat, just regular religous people) follow g-d only via the bible. there are many faults with the bible.
1. it was translated too many times.
2. the new testament was not even written until at least 50 years after christ died, and people did not live then as long as we live today.
3. many 'books' of gospel were not allowed to be included in the bible--they came into the church 'too late.'
4. the dead sea scrolls were not discovered for too long.
5. if you take the bible literally, it just makes no sense.
6. it is arrogan
