For centuries people have written and have created technologies that tries to perfect beauty. Divine proportion, myths, arts etc. all of these caters to our understanding of what is said to be "beautiful"; and have shaped and infuenced our perception of of it. But why do we long for beauty? I personally think that our search for beauty is related with our search for God/god's face. Why? Theologists would say that God has no face since God is a spirit, thus God is only characterized by the things he does and the things that He can do. In GEnesis we are also told that "God created us in HIs own image and in HIs likeness" off course this refers to our "God-like" ability (to think, to reproduce, to love etc.). IF this is so, then isn't it strange that the "good-guys" in myths, fairy tales, perhaps even in the bible look "beautiful". note: BEauty is also characterized by poets such as Dante Aligheri as "life-saving"(remember beatriz)
