Wouldn't they be surprised when one day I woke out of my black ugly dream, and my real hair, which was long and blond, would take the place of the kinky mass Momma wouldn't let me straighten? My light-blue eyes would hypnotize them ...

- I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.

On TV and in magazines, you seldom see a dark-skinned black person. Our culture is still being led to believe that having lighter skin somehow makes you a better person.

Black people with lighter skin get treated better; I believe this discrepancy stems from the days of slavery. In general, dark-skinned blacks labored in the fields while light-skinned blacks worked indoors. Slave owners and even slaves gave lighter-skinned blacks more respect. This segregation of shades within the same race is a serious problem.

Colorism has always been an issue for the black community. In the past, some black social clubs and societies only allowed those who had light skin.

I was in Borneo a couple of months ago, and i tried two different types of fruit, but i can;t remember what they were called!
One was in a wierd shell, that looked prickly, but the 'prickles' were soft and bendy, you pulled open the shell and there was a fruit, kind of like a lychee, inside with a stone in the middle?
The other one was really wierd! It was like a stick with loads of little fruits on it, and they looked like mini lychees, but there was loads of them and you had to kind of pull them off!
I know my descriptions are a bit vague, sorry! But any info will help, thanks :-)

I don't want a divorce. I love him. He and I were both married before. He for 16 years, and I for 18 years. We each have four children. We get upset at each other for silly things. Don't we all? But...he has eluded to a divorce several times (in a 5 month period), and this morning he actually said, as he walked out the door, "I want a divorce." Although I don't want this, he refuses to talk about it or go to a counselor. My only solution is to accept it. Our house is solely his, he made sure of that right away. I only own a car (which has a monthly payment, so I don't really own it). I am afraid that I can't support myself and my daughters. I am so distraught right now, that I don't even know the first step. Do I go look for a place to live or what? Is there a list of steps to follow for people who can't even think straight? Also, if you are a Christian, please pray for us. Please help me. Thank you.

I have a wireless, and bluetooth HP 3310 All in one printer. When the print software is loaded, it takes 15 minutes, then it tries to do it again from the internet. After it is set up, if I loose power on the computer(s) on my network, the printer will not print again. The error I get says that the Print Services/Que needs to be restarted. How do I do this? HP Has no mechanism to ask them, their books do not explain it, and they do not answer emails about this. Please help. Thanks!

Apparently the USA used to belong to King George III of England until George Washington defeated him and it gained its independence.

However, the UK never signed a peace treaty with the US and so the two countries are still technically at war.

Do you think that we need to be careful in case Mr Tony Blair wants the US back ?

There was too much ice at the bottom of the windshield when my wife turned them off. Since that time they stop straight up when turned off. Three dealers gave three different possible fixes. Since this was fixed already under warranty 4 years ago I wonder if there isn't a common fix as this can't be an isolated incident.
