They found the remains of 2 cities in close proximity to one another along the shores of the dead sea. It's quite probable that these are the cities could be Sodom and Gomorrah, however nobody knows for sure. Let me stress that a finding like this supports that these places existed... nothing more.

As to the demise of these cities, it is thought that they either fell due to earthquakes, military siege, or a combination of the two. The person who said they found "balls of sulfur" is incorrect, they found no such thing. They DID find evidence of fires, but as we all know, you don't need magic from the sky to start a massive fire.

These two towns are supposdly in the salt sea. as this sea slowly dries up over the years, i suspect that more and more supporting evidence of their location, etc, will surface as well.

I know that on the SE of the dead sea there is a vast plain that was melted flat. Other then that - enlighten me.

i seen on the history channel were they thought they found the site and there were pillars of salt all around, hum imagine that. really do you know why these twin cities were evaporated?
