why does my internet browser go to search every time i type in a website in the address bar?

You could try this: go to Tools, and click Advanced (tab), then scroll down to "Search from the Address Bar" and click on "Just display results in the main window"...(hope this works!)

try to be sure that you r putting the right address and be accurate with it... cuz if not .. it will automatically direct you to your defaul engine
