I hear Christians stating to atheists words akin to "Atheism is a religion" or "You have your faith, I have mine."
I understand the premise. But I do not see why we, as Christians, would advance the argument.
First, it appear ineffective in opening atheistic hearts. If anything, it seems to ruffle their feathers.
Second, it has the flavor of the pseudo-logic gimmickry so often tossed out by the atheist enclave, i.e., "If God threw a birthday party, could he invite a clown so scary that even he cried?"
Third, it seems to lead into one of atheism's favorite ripostes:
"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."
Stephen Roberts
So my question to Christians,
"If you have advanced this argument in the past, why have you done so and has it proved effective?"
