Immigrant 9-13 yr olds show anger (to English-only speaking adults) by not speaking English around them is...?

This less or more disrespectful than the classic "silent treatment"? Step mom/American sponsors 5 kids from husband's 1st marriage to immigrate to USA. She has no bio kids/1st marriage. Step kids & husband's 2nd language is English. Sometimes when angry at either parent the kids use silent treatment. Answering adults & others only in nods, grunts or not at all. Step mom when alone with angry kid gets it worse. Silence/they speak but not to her, and in their language (the husband/their father also does this angry or not). Husband almost always working says “Absolutely not!” to family/couples counseling, & “I can't do anything about it! Handle it!” None of this occurred until after this couple married & kids moved into the US. This is new behavior from husband/kids (as of 10 MOs ago) for the step mom. Is it all her fault, the Dad's, kids who are 13+? As to language power trips what about American society which does not encourage immigrants to assimilate as much as in the past?

guy problems?

I'm a freshman in HS and the guy i like is a sophmore. Ok we are really close friends and hes really sweet and is constantly making me laugh. I like him a lot and I'm pretty sure he likes me to. But the problem is that in the past he has been screwed over by girls and because of that is kinda scared of a real relashionship again. Like one time his ex-gf moved 2 Georgia and he wuz in luv with her and they had been datin for like 9 months. This summer i'm supposed 2 move to ATL,georgia and i dont want 2 break his heart but i also dont want my heart broken. Hes also kinda shy and im outgoin but we balance each other out. i really am very confused and dont know what to do

Anyways to swim(in a swimming pool) without using tampons when menstrauting?

We are starting swiming tommorrow! and tommorrow im on my heaviest period! My mom wont let me use tampons.She thinks it unhygenic andu she thinks u have to have sex to wear one(which u dont)but thats the chinese tradtion when she was younger.And i want to cause it seems so convient, pads are like diapers!
But my pe teacher is so strict! its hard to ace it! also if ur abesnt or have a note one day u get -25 points. and u have to go to make up PE! which u can go only twice a quater. and i dont have time for that! Its after school?What should i do?Any ways?

Any hairstyles that can be done in approx 5 minutes with wet, straight,long (to my waist) & very thick hair?

My hair is all one length, no bangs, no layers. I have limited time in the morning (w/ three kids) to fuss w/ my hair after my morning shower.

I work in a very, very casual dressed (jeans etc.) office setting so it doesn't need to be ultra-conservative, just pretty & different :o)

I am sick of braided ponytails & french twists w/ tufts of hair spiking out of it! That's about the extent of my talents when my hair is wet, lol

Why are seatbelts required for adults in passenger vehicles?

There are plenty of opinions of this subject. Can someone guide me to rationales given by lawmakers and lobby organizations for making this a requirement? I do a search and only get sites against this kind of law or ones talking about schol buses.
