..coming from someone who has been diagnosed with vague disorders like depression and anxiety. I've been in a psychiatric ward for a long time too, and been treated for all kinds of different 'symptoms'..
Aren't these so-called illnesses just attempts to capitalise on basic fears and anxieties that most of us have already? I mean, some symptoms of illness are just unfashionable personality traits. It's normal to be angry, upset, frustrated, in pain for long periods of time because everyone does so, so it can't exactly be abnormal to be normal.
But with more complex issues- like learned behaviour, psychosis and obsessive personalities.. should they be decategorised (sp?) as actual illnesses? should psychological anaylsis (in psychiatric terms) be a lot more brutal?
could say i'm a sucker for punishment..
