One was born at 23:59 and the other at 00:01 the next date.

Hell, even the year could be different if one was born on 31 Dec at 23:59 and the other on 1st Jan 00:01 next year

One could have been born at 11:45 PM and the other could have been born at 12:10 AM the next day. Also there are some rare occurances where one twin is born premature via c-section and then the other twin is left in the womb for a couple of more months so that it can continue to develop.

It is possible for twins to be born days, even weeks apart, as one twin that is reasonably healthy may have to be surgically removed (Cesarean) in order to allow an underdeveloped twin have space to grow some more. I have heard of some cases like this.

Of course, the splitting of hairs about midnight, while technically true, might not be enough to dissuade differing celebrations. As a non-twin example, my mother was born five minutes after midnight on the 13th, but we celebrate her birthday on the 12th (triskaidekaphobia at play here).

Most of time, the twins should be on the same day. Its only the time different.

Twins are usually born minutes apart, but there have been cases of up to two weeks!
Anyhow if the interval between their births straddles at least one midnight, their birth dates will be different.

this actually isn't uncommon. women can easily be in labor for several hours between babies when they're birthing twins.
