With faxes, computers, cell phones, international next day shipping, etc., etc. all allowing simple communication with friends and family back in their original country is there now any reason to "assimilate" into American culture like immigrants traditionally did? Does all this technology make it very simple and comfortable for modern immigrants to isolate themselves from American society and maintain connections with their traditional heritage, whereas immigrants from previous generations were totally disconnected from their homelands and had little choice but to join mainstream American society to survive and prosper? Just throwing out a theory and wondering what people think.

I read about microsofts "my private file", now withdrawn. It seemed like a useful feature. I managed to find a proper file of this and have saved it, before installing, to capture the installer as well. Can i just put this on my ntl web space for others to use, as is, or is there code needed like you see "download now" buttons on websites.

So this is to go along with my last question...I stopped taking my birth control pills last Tuesday, had sex Wednesday, and yesterday started to bleed, but it's brown. It started out bright red and now it's brown. I'm not supposed to get my period for another 2 weeks not and it came early. I kno this sounds nasty but I hope someone can help me. I don't kno what's going on with my body! Please help!

As many people that don't pay taxes, I think it would benefit the economy because if you have a higher fixed tax on goods then everyone would have to pay. This would let us retrieve money from all the people dodging taxes, paying under the table, and illegals working in the country. Let's face everyone has to eat and buy clothes. So, we would actually benefit because there would be no way out of paying taxes. Plus thought of making 50K a year and taking home 50k would promote more spending and boost our economy because our economy is driven by consumer spending. Just a thought!

We are in the process of buying a forclosure ( as is, no sellers disclosure and no repairs) Its an affordable newer home (5 yrs old) and it looked to only have cosmetic problems.But this is what the inpection tunred up...
1. We thought it was hardie board but it turned ut to be a composite wood siding which is a big minus! There is HUGE ant infestation problem up and down the whole house inside the siding so who knows what they have done to the siding.
2. The foundation has many cracks and appears to have been filled in some spots with apoxy in some spots. There are big spaces from the ground to the foundation where the dirt is totally gone. There is a small slope that maybe due to foundation in the kitchen but its so slight theres no way fo knowing.
3. There is a crack along a outside joint from ground up to the roof where the siding is pulling away from the house.
4. Many other issues like no drainage for the hot water heater and ac, garbage disposal is not working...etc.

My father in law has cancer and, is really ill and just admitted back into hospital, due to complications.
I really feel for my mother in law, as this is such a hard time for her, i really wish i could do something for her, but she never needs any help and even though i offer there is never anything i can do.
Whenever i think of all the pain, she and her husband are going through right now, i feel really sad, and totally helpless. i just wish i could do more.

Okay, we had a question a while ago about Greyfriar's Bobby, the Scotty dog who loved his owner so much that he stayed by his owner's grave for most of his life until he died...

There's a similar story from Australia like that- something like a drover's dog stays waiting for his master to come back, but his master never does, and the dog dies- or is the master dead, and the dog dies waiting on his grave for him?

If anyone has the details of the story to help refresh my memory, I'd be truly grateful x.

I don't have any rocks to line a clambake hole with. Can lava rocks or ceramic briquettes be used? I'm not sure if either hold heat. I was thinking maybe charcoal but I figured the damp seaweed would put them out too quickly. Any ideas?
