The premise is this:

You can host a dinner party for twelve people - yourself included - from all of human history. Who do YOU pick ?

Just as you would a normal dinner party, pick your guest carefully...you want interesting, maybe animated conversation... but not bloodshed (I hope!) For my dinner parties I would always prefer a good mix of men and women...do you invite friends / family to share this experience with you, and exclude historic figures you'd love to meet ? Who from our contemporary world makes the list ?

(Eleven guests only. And of course, there are no language issues at this party !)

Waddyathink? Who do you invite ? Tell me why ?

my parents know that I'm in relationship with a girl (my dad kinda accepted the fact, but my mom reacted totally oposite - please check my earlier questions for details). my mom, even tho sh'es TOTALLY against my relationship decided to have a talk with my gf. it ended horribly, because not only my mom asked my gf to tel me go (if she trule loves me, then she should do it, to save me from this kind of life which awaits us if we continue in this relationship) but also my gf.. she talked to mym mom in disrespectful way, she rised her voice while talking and what's even worst didn't think at all when accused my mom of destroying me if she won't let go of me!! god... when later (I wasn't present during the talk) my mom told me how did my gf act I wanbted to run away from there.. it was terrible..she screw up everything by acting that way! now my mom not only doesnt like her but also has terrible opinion about her

I ask because I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was 12. When I was first diagnosed I was told I would have to be on medication for the rest of my life even if i decided to have my thyroid removed. After 8 yrs I got tired of being on medication and didn't want to do it anymore. In my opinion, the more you take the medication the more your body becomes dependant on it. I made a conscious decision to stop taking my mediction, I do not recommend this to ANYONE because this could of actually put me in the hospital. At that time I was in college and experimenting with drugs. I started smoke mary jane around the same time I stopped taking the medication. Exactly 1 yr later I went to my doctor who did the routine blood work, when I went back for my results I was cured. I was scared that I would be repremanded if I told my doctor that I had started smoking and never did. I have never heard of anyone being cured of hypothyroidism, have any of you? Especially from mary j?

My girlfriend is in foster care (her parents sent her away when she was 13) and her family are all mad. They beat her, they smoke dope (yeah...the parents) and they show absolutley no love for her at all. She said I'm the only person who has ever shown that someone cares about her, but there are little things that worry me.

For example, when I'm holding her, she constantly shakes and shivers. when she wakes up next to me, she withdraws from any contact for almost 10 minutes. She always covers her face with things to stop me looking at her, and she often gets upset or angry when she sees me smiling after kissing her.

One other major thing is...she was raped when she was 10. Obviously this is shocking and sick, and all I wanna do is show her that I'm there for her. She has a huge problem with trust - un-surprisingly - and its really hard sometimes. sigh. I guess theres a lot of patience involved here, but is there anything else i can do or say to help her trust me more?

It is a must see, must tell all your friends movie about the reality of Global Warming.
The vast majority of scientists agree that global warming is real, it’s already happening and that it is the result of our activities and not a natural occurrence. The evidence is overwhelming and undeniable.

We’re already seeing changes. Glaciers are melting, plants and animals are being forced from their habitat, and the number of severe storms and droughts is increasing.
The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes has almost doubled in the last 30 years.
Malaria has spread to higher altitudes in places like the Colombian Andes, 7,000 feet above sea level.
The flow of ice from glaciers in Greenland has more than doubled over the past decade.
At least 279 species of plants and animals are already responding to global warming, moving closer to the poles.

If the warming continues, we can expect catastrophic consequences.
Deaths from global warming will double in just 25 years -- to 300,000 people a year.
Global sea levels could rise by more than 20 feet with the loss of shelf ice in Greenland and
Antarctica, devastating coastal areas worldwide.
Heat waves will be more frequent and more intense.
Droughts and wildfires will occur more often.
The Arctic Ocean could be ice free in summer by 2050.
More than a million species worldwide could be driven to extinction by 2050.

There is no doubt we can solve this problem. In fact, we have a moral obligation to do so. Small changes to your daily routine can add up to big differences in helping to stop global warming. The time to come together to solve this problem is now – TAKE ACTION
