Sure they do. Believe it or not, there are many thieves who steal things that they don't happen to want for their personal use. Their are a lot of messed up people in this world, some of whom are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. They steal things and give them as gifts to other people under the pretense of having spent their own money on something nice and "Christian" instead of their habits.

Other thieves are of the mercenary variety and they find someone willing to buy their plunder along with a carefully crafted lie they concoct to explain the reason why they are selling a treasured personal possession, perhaps some hard luck story about a sick relative or child and the need for emergency funds.

Then there are the people who roam the streets just looking for mischief. They see a Christian bookshop and the Devil whispers in their ear about some bad experience they had in the past that can be associated with some person or group who misrepresented Christ and they go in just to trash the place, destroy the inventory and perhaps write disparaging graffiti on the walls.

If you were to go on and ask why wouldn't the owner just trust that God would protect the business, I would point out that the Devil tried to get Jesus to sin by using that logic when he took Him to the temple top and told Him to jump off because God had promised to give his angels charge over Jesus but Jesus told Satan that you don't go around trying to "test" the Almighty by acting foolishly.

Of course they do! They're (almost) as likely as any other business to have thugs show up and claim their fortune... now, if they would just stop and smell the roses (read the books) it may be worthwhile NOT lock the doors for humanity's sake, just to save a few souls... but that's highly unlikely!

Most of them, Yes! Just because they have christian stuff doesn't mean that some non-christian may try to break in or walk out with something! May be christian based but it's still also just a business.

Yes they do, because they must account to God for what they do.

I guess the better question would be why do you have burgler alarms if you are athiest? If none of it matters, and you are going to die and go to dust when you die, then why bother to protect something as meaningless as your property?

I would like to think they do. Mostly for insurance purposes. I can't really imagine anyone breaking in to steal Bibles - but rather for money or to cause damage.
