They "know" thier jobs, are good at it and I am pleased to say, that I respect them very much for the effort that they give, every day, to save lives.

If they are arrogant, or want exessive entitlements, the I would give it to them, thier just dues...

Since I am a heart patient, I am in thier debt, many times over...

I wish you well..

Most are just trying hard to keep things under control. If they do seem that way chances are its from some Dr. with an ego bigger then a good year blimp. They pass the **** onto the nurses and the nurses may unfortunately pass that on to someone in the ER.

i would suggest that perhaps you are misunderstanding what you are experencing since i have seen few nurses with a sense of entitlement. most are overworked professionals that have very little extra time. what you may have seen was a mixture of expert knowledge, long experence, and the need to get things done as soon as possible. most do not have the time they used to snd this has affected thie bedside manner to the point where they seem almost rude and uncaring. believe me there are very few nurses that are either if they have a choice but like all health care professionals they are under a lot of pressure to do more with less.

First, ER nurses know their job and sometimes you have to get the job done quickly. I saw a pair of nurses drop what they are doing when a heart patient came in and in 1 minute have the patient in bed, shirt off, and 8 leads of the 12 lead EKG on.
Second, ER nurses have to deal with people under the influence of drugs and people reluctant to do things that will be helpful to their own care. The nurses have to get to the bottom of this.
Third, they have to protect themselves from people who want to inappropriately touch them.

Nurses have to do a lot of work at school and many of them are very pretentious about it. Lots of nurses just went into nursing because they weren't smart enough to be doctors or didn't want to bother doing that much school.

Not to say all nurses are like that, but many of them are.

I think a small minority may be arrogant.
Maybe they saved someone's life, and feel powerful.
