I just moved into town, and don't want to pay $100 or more to get into some random bar on New Year's Eve. Is there something cool, fun and cheap out there in Manhattan or Brooklyn for a couple of single 20-something women? Any websites or bar listings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Myself and my girlfriend are heading to New York for New Year's Eve and were wondering if anyone had any suggestions for how we should spend the evening? Obviously, we could head to Times Square, but we just wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions or if you think Times Square is the place to be?.....Thanks

Hi all

Going to NY in Feb 2007. Tempted to try and catch some live sport like the Knicks, they play at home when im there. The problem is the seats i would buy are pretty much the cheapest, would this hinder anything in a huge way.

Im english, so its more of seeing some live sport and experiencing it all rather then whos playing.

Is seeing some live sport a good idea?

Okay, you guys know I totally love the city of New York and I wanna visit so many places! Mainly, I go to Times Square because that's my favorite spot in the city .. but I wanna visit many places like Soho and Union Square. I know they're both in totally different areas of NYC compared to times square. So how far is Union Square from Times Square? Would it be a freaking long *** time to walk all the way to union square from times square?

I want to take my girlfriend to NYC for a day sometime before christmas, just to shop and look around a bit. I tried looking on the NYC subway map for a parking garage or something, but I can't seem to find one. Im hoping someone can help me out about where I can park and just take the subway in. I dont want to have to try to find a place inside the city. Thanks.

Hi, my friends and I are planning to catch Phantom of the Opera but not sure on the dress code. Are there any restrictions, eg no jeans, or must be semi-formal? Thanks a lot!

All I know about Harlem is Arnold and Willis were from there, and I should stay away. But how bad is it really? I've heard it's much better than it used to be, but is it a safe place to live? I'm looking at an apartment one block north of central park. Thoughts on spanish harlem also welcome.

TIA!

I looked at the http://www.statueoflibertyferry.com/ and saw no mention of the Ferry to and from the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island from 1/5-1/7/07, is it closed for the season then ?

Somewhat confused, cause on http://www.nps.gov/stli/planyourvisit/hours.htm It states that it is open all year round except for X-Mas

can anyone shed light on this ? I wish to take the Ferry to Statue of Liberty and go to Ellis Island between 1/5-1/7/07
