Hi, We're travelling to the U.S. in September. Chances are, we can't purchase duty free here in Australia because of the liquids ban at the moment. Is it worthwhile buying duty free alcohol in LAX and can you give me a web address for prices in LAX shops? I can't find one. Thanks again!

Since the weather has been so nice at night I've really wanted to go somewhere where I can see stars! From where I live in the valley I only see a handful, but I know there's more out there ;) Any suggestions?

I am traveling to cali, I am staying in calabasas, CA north of malibu, and I am wondering where the best beaches are? I am looking for a nice beach where I can go swimming and is not too crowded in september.

We want to go see Hollywood, Movie Studios, Knotts Berry Farm, and Magic Mountain. Any other attactions that are a must see? Also, any tips on which reasonably priced hotels and where? Staying by the beach would be nice if that makes any sense.

I know that it would be unrealistic to believe that there is a cheap place to live in the state of California, but there must be another city/county that is closer to Los Angeles (particularly downtown) that doesn't cost as much to live in Los Angeles. So far, I am only discovering Santa Clarita to have decent prices for apartments to rent. I am currently residing in Redlands, California which is San Bernardino County, but the amount of time and the cost to commute to Downtown Los Angeles (where I work) is ridiculous! Can anyone recommend another city that is close by Los Angeles (not necessarily in L.A. County) that the cost of living isn't as high as Los Angeles and the commute isn't as bad as 2 hours of commuting time as well?? I am desperate to find this information out because my family and I just moved here from Virginia. Please help (that means only serious answers please)!

This time next year I'll be (hopefully if I get accepted) attending UCLA, or otherwise Loyola Marymount, but either way I'll be living in LA. I see myself probably straying from the college social scene and hanging out more in LA than on campus. What should I expect when I make the move? I've never actually been there before because I live so far away (New York) so I'm basically clueless. I'll be visiting sometime this school year though.

and/or educated guess. My son is boarding at LAX today. I want to know the origin of the idea of using liquids in bomb making. Specifically, which liquids are used for bombmaking? What kind of bombs are made from liquids? Where was a liquid containing bomb ever used?

Or is the government making us worry needlessly? What's going on?
