Since the weather has been so nice at night I've really wanted to go somewhere where I can see stars! From where I live in the valley I only see a handful, but I know there's more out there ;) Any suggestions?

From one val to another, try top of the world, where the antennas are, (North)west of Topanga Canyon the the Santa Monica Mountains. Get there on a clear evening, before sunset, (so you can find it) and you will see all of the valley, LA, up & down the coast, and if it's really clear, all of the islands off the coast. The Perseids Meteor showers are July 23-August 22 and are some of the best. The best night was Aug. 13th, so time's a wasting. I heard that there is another top of the world above canyon country somewhere.

Definitely towards East. I think the best place would be the highway to Big Bear Lake. There are a lot of turn over that you can stop and watch the stars. It's away from the city and it's real quiet. I was there during the meteor shower years ago; it was real nice. It seems like stars are falling on you and they are so close as if you can grab them.

I live in the high desert but it's hard to see good ones in my city. My sister's place is in Phelan, in the high desert, and star gazing is absolutely phenomenal over there. There doesn't seem to be any space where there are not stars.

Head to the mountains.... Big Bear, Arrowhead and all those places are good for star gazing..... you get above the smog (most of it anyways).
