PROS
Venice is expensive but not quite as expensive as New York
Traffic is bad but not quite as bad as New York
Los Angeles is a very cool place to live
This new job might be your dream job (you didn't say) or could be a job that will advance your career

CONS
If you LOVE New York you won't love L.A. they are too different
You will miss your home and family and friends and the city
You will be taking less pay
You don't know yet how your new job will be - what if you hate it? What if the job description is misleading?

I wouldn't because I like NY and hate California. It's all personal I suppose. Personally, I love that I never have to drive in NY and worry about that hassle, whereas in California gas is more expensive than anywhere else and you have to drive on those 10 lane highways bogged down with traffic. I would just HATE that.

Some people might argue in favor of California because they have better weather. I suppose that is probably true.

What is the job you are giving up? What might you gain back in the long run that you sacrifice in the short term?
