Hi, We're travelling to the U.S. in September. Chances are, we can't purchase duty free here in Australia because of the liquids ban at the moment. Is it worthwhile buying duty free alcohol in LAX and can you give me a web address for prices in LAX shops? I can't find one. Thanks again!

Regarding the Duty Free shops at LAX, they are owned by DFS Galleria. They're in every terminal at LAX--check out the map.

The one at the Tom Bradley International Terminal is OUTSIDE the TSA check-point so you don't need a boarding pass to get there. To purchase something, you have to prove that you're leaving the country (ie: a boarding pass) so you may be out of luck on your way in.
There's no VAT refund in the US so you're pretty much screwed by paying US taxes.
You can't bring liquids in greater quantities than 4 ounces on the plane, and you can't get booze in the US without paying our sales tax...It's a no-win at the moment.
So, don't even bother with the duty free booze at LAX for the moment...in case the regulations change again.

You will be able to get duty free goods while leaving the US.
LAX has a large selection of liquor and the prices are really good.
I can't find a web link, but every terminal has at least one duty free shop.

Don't forget duty free shops are only for leaving the country. Don't expect to buy any in LA and bring it in. For one thing duty shops are in the departure area.

I do not have a web address for the lax shops but yes it is a good idea to buy liquor their because certain types of liquor is cheaper their like gray goose and etc..
