i heard about the tight security at LAX, what must i do to speed up the custom check?

you can reduce the amount of time you personally will take up, but you'll still have to wait while security checks the thousands of other people.

If they're allowing carryon baggage, put everything in see-thru bags. That way they can check your stuff easily, and it's easy to re-pack.

Don't wear shoes with metal shanks; if you are, make sure you take them off early in the waiting line.

Check with your airline for a list of forbidden items.

Have your i.d. and ticket readily available. Note: don't put them in the bag you put through the machine. Get one of those handy things you wear around your neck that will hold them.

absolutely no liquids. if you have medicine or a baby who requires formula, it's accepted, but if you don't nees it for the flight, don't carry it on. only paper products in your carry on (books, tickets). i just took a flight cross country yesterday and they were allowing CD players and MP3s. we arrived 3 hours early for a 10:20pm flight and were ready to board within 20 minutes (including tagging our bags and security check). we stopped to get something to eat before the flight (in the airport) and i bought a drink. i never got around to drinking it before the flight and it was in my carry-on. i'd forgotten about it. when i got in my seat and was stowing my carry-on, i was horrified that i'd brought it on. they don't check you once you're through security. i still had the bottle with me when i left the plane. i wouldn't suggest it, but it happened.

Its really the same but you can't take any fluids onto the plane at all. I woildn't even try jello.
